IMPORTANT -- Keep your blog squeaky clean and safe

Okay critter pals and beyond.... This is a serious blog post from me. I clicked onto my own blog this morning and I was stolen away to some advertising site. I thought it was a fluke at first, but I was hacked.... HERE's how.

I had added the Zen Aquarium gadget months ago to my blog. It's a cutesy little thing that had fish swimming back and forth. They got in through that and it redirected my whole blog to another site ... and it was hard to catch... I mean very fast... fast ... fast.

My advice, use your words to be cute... Don't put cutesy things on your blog and risk being hacked.

Luckily, I have a wonderful web designer who caught it fast, but even she said that she wasn't sure she could.

You're welcome Shawnee. Yes, we are just out for the fun. We must fight those nefarious hackers for sure! Spread the word that the best way to do it is to stick to words and not the cutesy gadgets. That's how they got in ... through my Zen Aquarium. You notice that it's gone. That's right. I (or I should say my web designer) closed that way in. YAY!!

P.S. Max - wish you book would have been out a year ago cuz I certainly could have used the help instead of struggling for months. I'm going to get a copy when available.

Mariodacat... it's available now, just click on the picture of it in the margin....BUT you might not need it cuz it's how to get up and going on Twitter and you're up and going already...

Wow, that's scary! Thanks for telling everyone about it. It would be helpful if you could do a post to The Cat Blogosphere 'cause I know lots of other cat blogger have those swimming fishies on their pages.

Our secretary (aka Mom) never puts things on our blog without knowing the site they came from is safe.

She's very wise to never put things on without knowing th site they came from. Unfortunately... this one was a Blogger gadget... It's gone. Don't need the cutesy stuff... we're cute enough on our own. HEE HEE.

Thanks for warning us Max. Our Mom accidentally clicked on a website that was pretending to be us and we got a virus. The Dad slayed it (he is good at stuff like that) but if he hadn't been home we would have been dead in the water. The Internets can be scary. ~AFSS
