Christmas Preparations

Thanksgiving is over... Is it time to pull out the Christmas lights? I hope so.

I will help HH tangle (oops, I mean untangle) the lights. And I promise to help HH hide (oops, I mean sort) the ornaments, and I will help HH eat (oops, I mean bake) the cookies.

Hope you have as much fun decorating as we do...

Meet Macy from the SPCA of North Brevard

I hope everybody had a great Thanksgiving. As I said yesterday, I'm thankful for the people at the SPCA of North Brevard. They work very hard to find homes for anipals who need them.

Today I want you to meet Macy. She's a pretty Siberian Husky who needs a forever home. Please tweet about her or pass the word on Facebook too. Macy's in Florida and would love to live with a good family or individual.

Here's her story in his own words...

Hi everybody! My name is Macy and I am a female Siberian Husky. I am about 1 year old. My owner brought me to the SPCA because I did not like her kitty... it was just so pesky! I am a very sweet, active girl...typical Husky. I like children of all ages and I seem to like dogs as well. I would like to go home with someone who is experienced with Huskys... not someone who just likes me because of my looks. I can be quite a handful and I am a BIG responsibility. I am housebroken and I walk well on a leash. I would like a large, fenced in yard or an owner who walks on a regular basis. Please come in soon and take me home...I am ready to blow this pop stand! Love, Macy

NaNoMaxO and this and that...

Hi pals... A post to catch up...

First of all. Have a Happy Thanksgiving and I wanted to tell you what I'm thankful for...

  • Best of all, I'm thankful for all of you.
  • And I'm thankful for HH and her brother, Uncle Jim.
  • And a special Thanksgiving nod goes out to The Great Noodles because his human bean leaves him and his sister Lindsey with us when they go on vacation... So, I thank him for giving me lots of chuckles when gets right in HH's sleeping face at 4am and screams to wake her up... HEE HEE.. See ... it cracks me up even thinking about it.
And I am very thankful for all the folks (including all of you) who work so hard to find forever homes for dogs and cats. I've been putting the word out about the dogs and cats at the SPCA of North Brevard. They spend lots of time and money taking care of pets who need forever homes. I'm thankful for the work they do.

Now, about the title of this post... Many of you know that I was working on a book for National Novel Writing Month. Instead of HH, I was writing it this year and HH was typing it to save me from having sore paws.

Some of you noticed that I was keeping track of the number of words in the upper part of the right column. You may wonder why the number has been stuck around 9,000 for the last week... Well... HH lost the flash drive that had the book on it....

When she finally admitted the problem to me, I said (not too politely), "Oh nose...OH NOSE!!! And, I'm not proud of it, but I did pout for a while too... cuz I knew there was no way I could write a 50,000 word book by the end of November 30th.

I wasn't mad at HH for long though. I mean, I know how hard she has been working in the last two weeks with the book launch and the book fair and all... So, I forgave her... And I double forgave her when she came up with a great idea.

It's NaNoMaxO... Yes, well... all is not lost. HH has declared that because I'm a cat writing a 50,000word novel, we're going to have our own novel writing event. We're going to call it NaNoMaxO.

In NaNoMaxo... any cat or dog starting today... has until New Year's eve to finish the 50,000 words. So join in if you like... I'll be posting my numbers again, starting tomorrow. That's the story... and I'm off to write Chapter One... again... and, believe me, we're not saving it on a flash drive this time!

So, that's the rundown... Happy Thanksgiving to All!!!

Yay!!! Day Three of the Book Launch: The Zen of Max

Can't participate in Wordless Wednesday this Week...!
I've got lots of words to share today

Hurray...I've been having a great time with the book launch and that's because you all leave such wonderful comments. Thanks to all of you for stopping by.

I drew a name from those who commented yesterday and Michelle Stringer @grrlysquirell is the winner of the Cat Stitter Mystery book by Blaize Clement. Send me your address at maxthequiltcat@gmail.com and I'll send you your prize. Yay!!!

Today, I want to tell you a little about the book. It has several features that I think you'll enjoy. First, it tells about ME. And, HH makes me sound just delightful (except when I'm not... and she does do the "tell-all" sorta thing, too). Second, it tells about HH and our life together (some of that is very touching, so get the tissues ready)... and third, she summarizes each section with Lessons Learned.

So, if I had to describe the book, I would say its funny, warm and touching too and would be a good gift for a pal who loves anipals...

Thanks for stopping by Day Three of the Book Launch.

To buy, The Zen of Max, Click Here. It'll take you to Amazon where you can buy books. They make great gifts for your pet-loving friends. (And remember, a portion of the sales during the book launch goes to the SPCA of North Brevard).

As always, leave a comment and you'll be entered into the giveaway.

Be sure to stop by tomorrow, cuz I'll have a special post that will lead you to HH's blog. She wanted a day of the Launch Week to tell all her friends and colleagues about the book. She wants you to come along too. So stop by here anytime on Thurs and there will be a linky to her blog.

Have a great day!!

Today's post will be about the group that HH is sponsoring through the book launch. She's giving a portion of the sale of the books this week to the SPCA of North Brevard. So, if you buy a book, you won't only be receiving some of HH's classically humorous writing about me, but you'll be helping anipals as well. What could be better than than.

Have a great day, and encourage others to adopt a pet... It's a great thing!

Happy Friday

Hi Critter Pals...

I'm combining my regular Friday post with a Mousey Picture this time. (I was gonna, but I'm not gonna say the thing about killing two birds with one stone. That might be a tad insensitive in light of the picture above).

Anyway, it's been a busy week... and HH has been running like crazy. I've gotten some done on the NaNoWriMo book but not as much as I thought I would... so this weekend is going to be time to settle down and catch up on that.

Just wanted to wish all of you a happy weekend.

NANO Progress Report

Good Morning Pals... See this ancient device behind me. I'm told it's a typewriter. Well, I've been trying to paw out 1700 words a day in the National Novel Writing Month challenge. It's been a little rough here in the beginning...

I'm not pointing paws (*looks in HH's direction*) but a certain someone has been very, very busy and hasn't had as much time to put my hard-pawed words onto the computer. So, I'm gonna do it myself. Yep. I'm gonna type...

Now, I know HH will help me when she gets a little more time, but no reason, I can't take matters into my own paws and get a head start. So far, I have 2,641 words... But now that I have my own writing machine... watch that number soar over the weekend.

Speaking of weekends. Have a great one. I know what I'll be doing. What are you doing?

Started off Novel Writing Month with a Bang

Here I am at the Write-In at the House of Joe on Monday. See the cup of hot chocolate behind me. That belonged to Mike... he's one of the NANO writers too.

Anyway, we got off to a good start on Monday with 1814 words in the puter. Since then I've been writing by paw, cuz HH has had a big editing project to do. She has promised to get what I've written since the write-in into the puter by tomorrow, so I can post my numbers. So watch for that in the upper right corner.

Anyway, it was great to go to House of Joe with the other writers for the big kick-off of novel writing month... OMC, I had a great time.

I know you guys like to hear about all the goodies, so here's a partial list. They mostly have bagels and sandwiches and stuff like that, so I didn't have any of the treats. But, believe it or not, I didn't even miss them... I was too busy dictating my book to HH.

Hope you're having a great day.... More later, Critter Pals.

Pet Adoption: Get the Word Out About Misty #1

Good Morning ... This is Misty #1. She's a domestic shorthair/mix and is looking for a forever home.

Please tell all your pals about her. It's so important to spread the word about our furiends who need homes. You never know when you might tell the right person who knows someone who knows someone...

Here's Misty #1's story in her own words:

Hi my name is Misty. I was born in March 2008, and I am a female, domestic shorthair kitty. I am litter box trained and good with children and animals. I was returned to the SPCA along with my sister, because our owner's son is allergic to us. I am a very sweet girl. I would love to go home with you as soon as possible, because this cage is a little cramped. Love, Misty

It's started....

(thought I better haul out my business card today, just in case anyone questioned
whether I mean business about writing a novel in 30 days... 50,000 words, here I come)

See my new badge. HH is serious (I mean, she put the badge in the right column... that's where permanent stuff goes)

I didn't think that HH was really serious about letting me write a novel in November for National Novel Writing Month. I don't know why I doubted her - she's never lied to me before.

Anyway, she just put up my badge in the right column and I'm off and running today with dictating my novel to her. She was going to let me type it myself, but with having to do 1600+ words a day, she thought my paws might get in the way. So we are collaborating and she's my assistant. Nice turn of the tables, don'cha think?

I'll keep you posted of my word count. It'll be at the top of the blog in the right hand corner. I'll update it at the end of the day. I have to get 50,000 words by the end of November 30th. I can do this...? I can do this....!!!!
