Cross-Species Friendships

Thanks to Dashing Wilson

Are you a cat and have made friends with a dog or a bunny perhaps? Or as a dog, are you friends with a kittie or a horse? Anipals are anipals and most of us are great friends with humans, too.

When I first started my blog and when I first started tweeting on twitter, I remember that I tried to follow a certain doggie ... I can't remember that canine's name... but the point is that I saw no difference between us. But he did. He sent me a message that he only followed other dogs...

Wha'? I didn't understand that... I've always been raised that we should all be furrrrriends... Don't you agree?

Well, today Dashing Wilson made up for that incident without even knowing the history. Out of the blue, he dedicated his blog to me..... a mere cat.

Thanks Wilson. I appreciate it. You'll go a long way with your wonderful bloggie. Visit him and see what I mean... The Dashing Dachshund.

Favorite Toy

Yay!!! I'm participating in Anipal Photo Hunt #4. By clicking on the photo above, you'll go to the wonderful website of Cokie the Cat. You'll find the whole scoop there. The topic this week is favorite toy....

Here is a pic of my favorite toy....... It was hard to choose just one toy. That's for sure... But, since I'm from Florida, I just had to pick my pink flamingo. Yes, he's my favorite.

Have a great day.

Celebrate Scafflaw Week

I never heard of this before, but I just read Brian's Blog and he says it's Scafflaw Week. That's a celebration of breaking the rules.

Well, that appeals to me. I mean, I'm usually good, but who can pass up permission to break a rule or two.

So I just took a break to find a picture of me breaking a rule... and I'm embarrassed to say, I couldn't find one. Now, I'm generally a good kitty, but not that good. HH just didn't grab the camera when I was up to no good. Sorry... but here I am being embarrassed at least.

Have a great weekend.

Noodles All Over Again

This cracks me up. It is so The Great Noodles. When Noodles was over for summer camp with me, this is what he would do to HH every morning at 4 a.m. I mean... it's a wonder that boy lasted the full two weeks. HEE HEE.

Have a great day.

Max's Mystery Novel - Episode 10

If you are new to following Max's Mystery Novel... you'll find Episodes 1 thru 9 by clicking on the picture in the right column like the little one to the left here. All the episodes except this one are there.

So... when we left Max, we had just discovered that Stephanie (HH's new photographer and design person at Writer's Creative Studio) had been kidnapped. HH and Max headed over to Stephanie's apartment to help Sheriff Johnson sort through the "crime scene." HH wisely decided to take Max along this time. ... now in Max's own words...

When we arrived at Stephanie's apartment building, I was anxious to get out of the car and start searching for clues. It was bad enough that Fred had been murdered.... I was just praying that no harm had come to Stephanie, too.

When HH opened the car door, I lunged to get some traction on the ground and begin my investigation. It was not to be. HH caught me mid-air. "Not so fast, big boy," HH said. "I'll carry you in, just in case Sheriff Johnson doesn't want you snooping around."

My dignity was a bit dented, but I complied to her wish. It just would have been a bit more dignified if I could swagger in there and begin my investigation. Oh well....

When we entered the apartment, Sheriff Johnson greeted HH with the statement, "What's with the cat?"

HH held me up a little higher. "Max is your only witness to the murder. I thought he might help here."

"Hey, I've never partnered with a cat before, but if you think he can help, let him down. I'm never opposed to assistance from anyone or anything."

Anything? I thought that was a bit rude but didn't voice my discontent at his choice of words. I was too intent on surveying the room.

As soon as my feet hit the floor, I put my nose in investigative mode and began to slowly roam the room. It'd looked as if Stephanie had struggled a bit. Two chairs in the dining room were turned over and there were books on the floor as if Stephanie had tried to grab onto the bookcase on her way out.

I was about halfway around the room when I noticed a file folder sticking out from between the bookcases as if someone had shoved it there in a hurry. A person wouldn't have noticed it, but I was closer to the ground -- it was eye level for me. Just as I began to make a ruckus over my discovery, the phone rang....

Sheriff Johnson picked it up on the third ring and we turned to listen to his side of the conversation. He spoke for a minute, then turned to HH. "That was the kidnappers. They say Stephanie is okay. They'll call back in an hour... They want to talk with you..."

"Me....?" HH said.

"Yes, something about wanting the rest of the pictures."

That was my cue. I started pulling at the file folder in earnest and meowed simultaneously. I looked over at HH as if to say, "A little help here, please!" She didn't hear me articulate those very words. Instead it came out, "Meooooooooooooower!" but she understood.

"What ya got there, Max?" HH said. She knelt to pull the folder the rest of the way out of its hiding place. "Oh, good boy. This is it! This is what they're looking for....."

Flip Friday

So what's a guy to do? I just noticed that HH posted a cat cartoon on her blog. Wah? Yes, it's a people blog and she posted a cat cartoon there. See for yourself... HH's Blog.

Granted... she put the slant on her blog post that interprets the cat cartoon in relation to revising your writing, so technically it makes sense. But I think she should find her subject matter elsewhere.

Paws off my material!! Oops... that sounded a little bossy didn't it. Sorry... it's just that I thought I had dibs on the cat material and she covered the people stuff. I like the world so much better when we stick to the rules. Then, I don't have to think so hard...

Anyway, since HH made this Flip Friday by flipping the rules, I have this question for you...

What rule in your household would you like to flip today? And why?

Snooze Button

There is no snooze button on a cat who wants breakfast. ~~ by Anonymous
I read this quote and I thought of my pal Noodles. While he was here, this was certainly true. HH tried all sorts of things, but she never found his "snooze" button.

HEE HEE... that cat makes me laugh.

Every morning (2 weeks), he woke HH up at around 4 o'clock. He'd usually put his face in front of hers and go "MEOOOOOOOOOW" .... in much the same manner as the commentators at the soccer games call, "GOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL."

Sometimes she responded by patting him on the head and turning away. Sometimes (my personal favorite) she jumped right out of the bed. And, at other times, she tried to ignore him, but I could tell and I'm sure Noodles could tell that she was faking.

Faking doesn't work with us. Once we know you're awake, it's all over for you...

So, how do you go about waking up your food human when you think it's time for breakfast?

Business Cards????

So... what's a business card?

HH (That's short for Her Highness for any of you who don't know it. That's what I call my food human) ... anyway, HH went to her art group last night. While there, they talked about me. And HH told them about the book she is writing about me. They all asked if I had any business cards or brochures for them to take home.

So, HH comes home and says we'll have to make some business cards for me. Now, I want to know, "What's a business card and what would I do with it?" I mean, I don't have pockets in my fur suit and I'm no sissy, so I don't carry a purse (or manbag). Where in the world would I keep them and who would I give them too.

HH knows all this marketing stuff, so guess I'll just rely on her to take care of that. For now... I'm gonna nap.

Max on... tales from home

OMC, Noodles, Lindsey and I have been having a great time, but I'm afraid I have been neglecting my blogging and tweeting. So, here I am, taking a break from them to tell you a few of the happenings around here...

Shall I tell you about the chicken football? Okay, I will... Well, HH bought some chicken breasts a few days ago and had the butcher cut them up and wrap them in that white freezer paper. She put the package in the freezer. Last Sunday, she pulled out the package and put it on the counter to thaw.

An hour or two later, she heard a tussle in the kitchen. When she looked around the corner... there was Lindsey (yes, sweet little Lindsey) with the package of chicken breasts. She was holding them like a football and rolling around on the floor, trying to nom through the paper. Luckily... for her... she didn't break into the package... Unfortunately her vision of Chicken Fest 2010 was dashed.

Now, Noodles.... he's on night patrol. Every time anyone moves, he's there in an instant to investigate whether he can be of service (or more likely, to investigate whether anyone has happened to drop anything in his dish). HEE HEE....

Having fun with both.... And that's what's happening here.

Have a great day!
