Good Morning Pals.... Yes, I decided to be an astronaut for Halloween this year. I snuck out to the cape this morning and took a little shuttle ride to set the mood. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee..... it was fun!!!!

GUESS WHAT? Monday Starts Novel Writing Month and HH is Letting Me Participate

Here I am working hard on my outline...

Oh.... Critter Pals. I'm so excited. I'm participating in National Novel Writing Month. For three years, I've watched HH write novels during the annual competition in November. For those 30 days, she writes with the frenzy of a cat chasing a laser dot. Well, this year, it is finally my turn... and I'm thrilled.

Here's the scoop. November is National Novel Writing Month. This is when people from all over the world try to write a 50,000 word novel in 30 days... Yes, it starts on November 1st and ends on November 30th. I've wanted to do it each year, but sharing the computer with HH and finishing that much writing in a month has been an impossibility...

This year it's my turn. Watch here for updates on my progress... I'll start at 12:01a.m. on Monday and off I'll go... If you want to do it too. .. Here's the website http://www.nanowrimo.org

Howdy there! My name is Fox. I was born in August 2006, I am a male, Dalmatian mix. I was brought to the SPCA because the shelter where I was staying ran out of room for me. I was confiscated from my previous owners because they had me tied to a tree, and I was not receiving the minimum care that I need. I am heartworm positive, but the staff here is working on my treatment. It will be long and difficult, but I know that I will make it through! I am very happy to be here now, and I love meeting new friends! I am a very good boy, and I don't mess up my kennel...unless I am having lots of fun with a toy! I seem to like other dogs and even children. I refuse to let my past get in the way of the bright future that I am hoping for! Will you please be the family who gives me the second chance that I deserve? Love, Fox

Max on ...Insomnia

Happy Sunday effurybody. Well, you all know that I sleep a lot. I mean, all the pictures HH has of me are with me snoozing away in a sun puddle or without one.

Well if you ever have insomnia, here's the cure. I stopped by my pal Maggie Mae's blog this morning, and she had this video of a human bean singing to some puppies. I dozed right off myself. Go watch it -- especially if you have a sleepless night.

In other news around the blogosphere... it's Sunday... just enjoy yourselves and enjoy being with your human beans today.

Here ... in Florida..., it's a beautiful day for watching the birds fly off to their winter locations. So... put your paws up and take it easy pals...

Friday Catch-All

OMC!! It's been non-stop book writing over here.

I'm working on polishing up and filling in all the details in my mystery novel -- getting the longer version of it ready, and HH has been finishing my memoir. Both are close ... In fact, HH has a meeting this afternoon with the designer

But, today, I'm taking the afternoon off to tell all of you to have a great weekend. Be sure to get your costumes ready for next week. If I'm not an astronaut for Halloween, I just might be a cat...HEE HEE.

World Wide Sketch Crawl 2010

I don't know if you saw my little post on Facebook on Friday, but HH said she was going to the World Wide Sketch Crawl on Saturday and I thought she said "Scratch Crawl"... Well, I scratch with the best of them and I know how to crawl as well, so I thought it was a perfect event for me.

HH said, no, it was for sketchers... you know people who draw pictures... Wah???

So, I was not invited, but as you can see from the picture above ((hee hee hee)), I snuck down to see what all the hoop-la was about. What they did was... the sketchers, that is... they all met at the Art and Antiques Studio and Gallery in the Eau Gallie Arts District, then they headed to different locations to sketch what was there. The first spot was the farmer's market.

See you can see some of the sketchers behind me in that first picture. There, on the left, is Ed with the blue shirt on and the white cap. Here are Ed's hands up close as he sketches...

Well... I didn't stay as long as HH cuz they only had vegetables and fruit to eat, so I left HH to her sketching and went home for a nap. But I enjoyed seeing all the artists at work.

Max's Mystery Novel: Episode 12... the final chapter...

To bring you up to date... When we last left the story, Stephanie's kidnapper had called Sheriff Johnson to meet him in the park... He intended to trade Stephanie for the pictures from Fred's book. HH and Max went along to the drop.

When they neared the park, Max jumped out the window and started running toward where the kidnapper held Stephanie in the picnic pavilion...

Now, in my own words. here's the conclusion to the story...

At first I thought I would run straight for the kidnapper and lunge at him, but when I was partway across the field, I noticed that he had a gun on Stephanie.

I concluded that an approach from the front was probably too risky, so I slowed and nonchalantly turned left. To avoid suspicion, I pretended to chase a butterfly, who was more than happy to act as a decoy for my little charade. When I knew that they weren’t watching me, I snuck through the bushes on the left side of the field and followed the edge of them around to the backside of the pavilion.

Silently, I peeked around the last bush. First, I saw HH and Sheriff Johnson making their way across the field to meet with the kidnapper. Sheriff Johnson had his hand on his gun. I knew I couldn’t let him use it. I had to make my move, before they reached the pavilion and while the kidnapper was focused on them.

The adrenalin coursed through my veins. I didn’t stop to think of the danger… No, I soundlessly climbed on the nearest picnic table and hopped from table to table as quickly as I could. I moved faster and faster with each step... positioning myself behind my smarmy target.

When I was within range, I knew the timing was perfect. “Meooooooowwwwwww!” I screamed as I flew through the air. One... two... three... I counted in my brain, then I landed on the surprised shoulders of the kidnapper. With back claws fully extended I put on the brakes into his back and reached to cover his eyes with my front paws as best I could.

In surprise, the kidnapper lost his grip on the gun and I heard it bounce on the concrete. I looked over his head and saw Sheriff Johnson pull his gun and rush forward.

In an instant Sheriff Johnson had the kidnapper in cuffs and HH was working to peel me off the guy’s head.

Once I realized the danger had passed, I relaxed and let HH and Stephanie fuss over me.

Anipal Photo Hunt... Uncompromising

Good Morning Critter Pals.... I find that I can't participate in the photo hunt this week.

I can not find one compromising picture of me anywhere on this hard drive. That's not to say that I always look great all the time. And, it's not to say that I always do the right thing and never make a fool of myself. It's just to say that HH never caught me in the act with the flashie thing.

So... I'll just have to make the rounds and enjoy your pictures and leave my MUAH HA HA HA'S tastefully on your bloggie posts.

Hi Pals.... Monday is the day I post one of our friends who needs a forever home. This is Bella. She's a bit over 5 years old and it sounds like she's a wonderful doggie. Here's a bit about her in her own words...

Hi there! My name is Bella. I was born in February of 2005, I am a female, Pointer/Retriever mix. I was brought to the SPCA by my owner because I was too much to handle. I am an active girl who needs some help with my manners. I am completely housebroken, good with other dogs, and I walk okay on a leash. I have not been around kids, but the staff here thinks I would do fine. I know that I am older than all the other doggies here, but age ain't nothing but a number! I would make a wonderful companion, and I would like a nice yard where I can run all of my energy out! Please come in and see if I am the girl for you. My previous owner provided the following information:

Bella will sit while waiting for dinner to be served. The release word is OK, then watch out as she dives for her dinner dish. She's not grabby for food but EASY is the magical word. You can hold a biscuit right in front of her and say LEAVE IT and she won't touch it. She loves to lay out in the yard and sun bathe and will come to the door and bark to come in when she's had enough.

She shreds squeaky toys but loves big bones, tug of war and frisbee. Also loves tennis balls but defuzzes them in minutes so stopped giving them to her so we wouldn't have an emergency vet visit with a blockage. She always waited for a last bite from the table or share the popcorn but not in your face or obnoxious. The only food I'm aware that she doesn't like is raw celery, otherwise she eats it all!!

She is a wonderful dog and followed me everywhere so I had dog beds in 3 rooms so she was comfy hanging out with me.

She loves to get her front end in your lap and will actually sleep that way, with her hind legs on the floor. Never saw her get on furniture directly. Also, I used to bathe her in our shower. Had to take her in by her collar but she was wonderful after that and just stood there.

Good morning critter pals. It seems like forever since I've blogged. You see, HH is working hard on the book about me. It should be out in about a month if she stays on schedule. That means she's been hogging the computer. Under any other circumstances, I would complain about her not sharing, but since the book is about me, I'll keep my whiskers from twitching.

So... what's been going on with me? I've been hopping from sun puddle to sun puddle. This time of year is the best... it's finally fall in Florida. I mean, we turned off the a/c and opened the windows. I do love that fresh air.

Just stopping by to say hi and to remind you to spread the word about Lucy, Ellie Mae and Moon. I would love to find them forever homes in Florida. I'd also love it if you would tweet about one of them to your followers. You never know when the right person might read your tweet! Thanx!
