Always Thankful -- It's the Thought that Counts

This is an old, old picture of me. I guess the New Year's festivities have sent me into nostalgia world. This is a hammock that our neighbor Esther gave me for Christmas one year.

In the spirit of full disclosure, I must admit that I only used it the one time. I tried it a few times when HH first opened it for me, but it's a hammock... it tips and rocks. Those are not movements that I'm interested in during nap time.

But, HH wanted to show her appreciation to Esther for the present, so she rubbed the hammock with nip one day and I hopped right up on it. She took the picture, showed it to Esther the next time she saw her, and all was well...

I never did get used to it unless there was plenty of nip involved. Definitely not my favorite gift, but, as HH says, "It's the thought that counts."

HH spent Christmas Eve with Noodles' food humans and she gave Noodles a duckie from me. Boy did he like that nip...

His sister Lindsey was there too. She wasn't so hot on the duckie and the nip, so there wasn't a tussle over the toy. She did enjoy the treats that HH took though. And a jolly time was had by all...

I seem to like other dogs, and think I would do well with kitties. I am almost completly housebroken...just a couple accidents over night. Please come in soon and get me out...I am waiting for you! Max on ... my quilt

This time of year, the best thing in the whole world is a quilt. Have you snuggled into the warm folds of a quilt on a cold day? Well, I have and I'm not called Max The Quilt Cat for no reason. There is nothing better than a good quilt.

Here I am several years ago on the quilt that HH made for me. Don't ya just love the bright colors? Color is only one aspect to consider when choosing a quilt.

What to look for when test-driving a quilt.

Comfort... First, Look for the "comfortability" factor. That is the most important of all the criteria for choosing a quilt. Is the quilt stiff and unforgiving or is it smooth, thick, and lush? Can you just sink right into it? Well if you can, that's what you want to look for in a quilt.

Accessibility... Next, determine the accessibility factor. Is the quilt sitting on the sofa or bed so you can get at it in a heartbeat, or does your human bean keep it in a plastic bag in the closet? No matter how comfy a quilt is, take away points if it's in a plastic bag... those bags can be dangerous.

Privacy... Does your human bean shooo you away when you sit on the quilt? We need undisturbed naps. I chose obscure quilts over the prettiest one in HH's line of view every time. After all, undisturbed sleep is important.

Completion... Finally, is the quilt finished? I made the mistake of trying to curl up in a quilt that wasn't quite finished. Got stuck with pins... owwwwwww.... not a good thing.

Okay pals... with this list in mind, you are now ready to go forth and conquer the quilts of the world. Happy Hunting.

Getting a Jump on the New Year

Good Morning Pals... (or afternoon or evening as the case may be)

It just occurred to me that the new year is almost here. I don't know about you, but I do love to set new goals... Here's a partial list. More to come when the brain allows...

1. Be sure to nap frequently and blissfully.

2. Talk daily with all my pals on line.

3. Write a new mystery story to thrill and entertain.

4. Finish the book that I started for Nanowrimo. You might notice I'm still stuck at a little over 6,000 words. These paws just aren't typing too fast.

5. Observe those special days... like TunaTuesday and ThankfulThursday...

6.... more to come... I'm still thinking, but right now... do need just one more nap to get the ol' brain going.

OMC... Big Doings Today

Oh My Cat... There are indeed big doings here today. HH (that's short for Her Highness, my nickname for Lou) is a "special guest blogger" on that wonderful book blog, Thoughts in Progress. How great is that, pals. Actually, I'm not sure what it all means, but HH is very excited about it and that's enough for me. I dropped by there myself and my picture is right at the top of the article. And, there's a super cat, Mason, over there. Who could want more?

Woohooo... what a day!!! Other than that... I'll be mostly napping today. I'm saving up my energy for Christmas. I think we should all take it easy while we wait for Sandy Claws.

Good Sunday Morning

I had my lazy day yesterday, so today I have to get myself in gear and get some things done. First on my list is to bring you up to date.

First of all... I don't know the results of the Pet Adoption event, but will look into that tomorrow.



Next, above is a picture of Flat Max at the book signing on Friday night. He's with HH's friend Susan Stone. She's an artists and paints beautiful pictures, sometimes of animals. Check them out on her website. Anyway, it was nice of her to stop by the book signing at Art Expressions Art and Fine Custom Framing on Friday...

Another of HH's friends, Trish, has had a good time with Flat Max's picture. She has elfed him...

(don't I look cute as an elf.... hee hee hee!!)

and she even gave him a Santa hat and spectacles. Flat Max is ready for the season. That's for sure.

Flat Max Gets a New Hat...

Looky... Looky at this great hat that Jody Carter (shop owner of Art Expressions art and fine custom framing; 1402 Highland Ave.; Melbourne, Florida) gave to Flat Max.

HH will be signing books from 5:30 to 8:30 tomorrow night at the shop and I guess he talked Jody into making him look a bit more festive. Wow... I'm jealous. I want a cool Santa hat, too.

Anyway, HH is looking forward to the book signing cuz it's always fun to hang out at Jody's place. There will be artists there too... So it will be extra special. If you're in the area, drop by. HH would love to meet you.

Wordless Wednesday - The Season of JOY

Aglow...keep warm!

Woo hoooo.... I'm aglow today with the Christmas spirit. It is very, very cold here. I know you guys in the north will laugh, but for Florida, it is very cold. I think in the 30s.

I have fur, so don't worry about me so much, but I thin HH may not come out from under the comforter today... That's a first.

But, as I say, I can complain too much because they say it'll be in the 70s again on Thursday. That's winter in Florida. Just a couple of days. Come on down.

Flat Max

Good Morning pals... (or good whatever-time-of-day it is where you are)...

I've posted this picture of Flat Max to make sure you are not confused by it. It's not really me. It's a picture. This "flatness" concept has really broadened the geographical area I can cover.

This picture is of Flat Max leaning against a bowl on the dining room table. Cool huh?

You see Flat Max is going to House of Joe with HH this morning. That's where they go to work on NanoMaxo.

Anyway, just wanted to let you know that Flat Max will be off to work with HH to catch up on the typing of my hand-pawed manuscript. And, I'll be here, warm and cozy, talking to you.

The book signing at Art Expressions in Melbourne Florida

OMC it was a wonderful book signing. First of all, it was at Art Expressions in Melbourne, Florida. It's this really beautiful art gallery and custom frame shop.

Here are some pictures to show you the highlights of the evening...

First of all, HH (that's Lou for those who don't know my nickname for her - HH is short for Her Highness) sat at a table with flowers, a poster of me and some books all wrapped in Christmas paper. The wrapping paper had pawprints on it (HH made it to keep with the Max theme).

As you can see, Flat Max (one of my stunt doubles and my official representative at this affair) sat on top of the poster - except when he climbed down to have his picture taken with some of the customers.

There were lots of people there... Jody (very wonderful shop owner and hostess for the evening) made sure they all knew why HH was there. Here's Jody with Flat Max...

HH signed many, many books... Here she is signing one for a man in a Santa hat... (pssssst... he's not the real Santa...)

Anyway, HH sold lots of books and left even more with Jody. It was a beautiful night. The shop was all decorated for the holidays and I just have to tell Jody that I'm sending her pawhugs and a big thanks for doing all this to help promote my book. Thanks Jody...

Sneak peek ...

The book signing at Art Expressions was last night. As I told you, I wasn't invited, but Flat Max went. HH took his picture on the table in the middle of everything. HH said it was a great affair. Tomorrow I'll post a full report as she has to put the pictures together, but she told me I could give you a sneak peek with this photo....

Besides that, I'll be working on my book... writing by paw ... today as HH will be out all day at the Greater Melbourne Studio Tour (again, I wasn't invited -- this is getting to be a habit). Anyway, just stopping by to say Happy Caturday to everyone.

Up early today pals.... Tonight is the book signing for my book. Don't know why I'm so excited, because, I wasn't invited. But I want to be supportive of HH and she has promised to take Flat Max with her, so you all can have a little look-see at what happened. So, watch for that on Sunday. Oh-oh... I've crawled inside another Christmas Ball

Good morning...

Oh boy... I'm back writing again, and I'm thankful for that. I'm working on my book from the November Novel Writing Month. As most of you know, I got partway through it and HH lost the flash drive.

So, I'm starting over and I think it's going to be even better than before. So, some god will probably come out of that mishap. Anyway, I posted my word count in the right column. You can check on my progress there from time to time if you are so inclined... I'm shooting for 50,000 words in NaNoMaxo by the end of December.

I'm also thankful that HH has a little breather here and that she has time to catch up on everything. I like it better when she is less frenzied... Tomorrow is a big day, however. She has a book signing during the First Friday Art Walk in the arts district tomorrow night. She's looking forward to that. She might take Flat Max with her, so you can see what it was all about. I'll post about that on Sunday probably. And, some of the proceeds from that sale will go to the SPCA of North Brevard... and that's a good thing.
