Calm down pals... These birds are not for eating. They are for observation only.
Yesterday, HH noticed that the osprey are back in their nest at the end of the street. I wish I had a picture to show you, but she can't find the pictures on the computer... can you imagine having so many pictures that you can't find the one you want.. that's the way it is, and HH has made a resolution to organize her pictures... Anyway, HH is gonna take some new pictures so you can see the huge nest on top of the Palm Bay brick sign thingy. You'll have to see it to get what I mean...
Anyhoo, years ago, osprey built this gigantic nest down at the end of the street by the Indian River. I guess they chose that place cause it's high up and safe from other animals and people, and it's close to the river, so they can fish anytime they want.
The neat part is that twice a year they return to their nest to have babies. Once the mama lays the eggs, one of them stays in the nest at all times until the babies learn to fly. It's wonderful to watch this little family. HH is gonna keep a log this time to see how long this process takes.
I'll get back to you on all this excitement. In the meantime, Have a great Saturday.

Very cool! We have Eagle nests not too far from our house. I don't know how big Osprey nests are, but Eagle nests are gigantic! We loves watching the birdies and even feed our neighborhood birds.
WEll tell HH to please go take some pictures of the nest. That is so great. It will be fun to see the babies if possible. That really is neat. Have a great week end.
Hi Max. It's so exciting that you have ospreys near you. We have them up here in Virginia, too (but not at the end of our street!)...they're the logo of the Audubon Society where Meowmy volunteers. The eagles at Norfolk Botanical Garden have been building up their nest and will start mating and laying eggs soon...Meowmy watches them on the innernet and it's fascinating. We like that she watches them 'cause then she makes a good lap for us.
thats cool! We have blue jays that nest near our house but not as cool as your birds, bol. take good pictures for us!
