We have had some crazy weather, haven't we? Well, I hope everybuddy is doing well from the hurricane. Please let us know that you are doing okay.
And, who felt the earthquake? Did you also hear it before your beans? I never was in an earthquake, but I just learned that cats can sense earthquakes long before human beans. The first time I heard this it was in reference to the fact that cats are known to carry their babies out of a building prior to an earthquake. Pretty smart, huh?
Well if you want to know how we get the signals early, here's how. We have super sensitive hearing and we can hear the noises of the earth shifting and thus we are warned that an earthquake is upon us. Now that's a skill that should be worth something. I mean, why don't those weather men all have cats. They might be right a great percentage of the time.... HEE HEE
Yep... it would be good for everybuddy living in an earthquake prone area to have a cat. Maybe, just maybe, I'll look into setting up an earthquake detection agency and I'll staff it with all feline personnel...
Have a great day.....!
Let us know if you had the hurricane and that you are okay.... Okay?

Yup, sure has been some weird stuffs going on out dere. Mother Nature sure is mad at us. Maybe she needs a cat (or a dog).
:o)
Yup - we are very smart. I did learn something new tho - I didn't know we could hear the earth moving. Hope I'm never in an earthquake either - they sound scary.
We didn't feel anything here...and our cats didn't either!
Our mom didn't know cats could hear an earthquake, either. She thought maybe some other innate sense or "knowing," not hearing. So that's cool!
We have heard that cats can tell about earthquakes. Many animals and birds can, too!
I don't know that I've ever been in a quake and I think I am glad. Large wind storms are bad enough...
I always knew cats were supersensitive! We only get slight tremors (mostly) but sometimes Austin behaves very strangely just before a thunderstorm.
Hope everyone is safe?
Well we felt the earthquake...and we were far enough from evil Irene that we didn't even get a raindrop!
We didn't know we could hear earth quakes. That's another thing we can do better than our pet humans!
Luv Hannah and Lucy xx xx
Mom always watches me for signs when we have bad weather predicted, acause she thinks I'm smart and can hear things that she can't.

Hi Max...you are one wise feline and I, Madi, thank you for the info. Mom thinks I was asleep on at the time of the shakin' and rattlin' but when she came downstairs I was doing the belly walk across the foyer so she knows I felt it....and both of us have decided we don't care to feel it again.
We're all sunshine and roses here but it was a wild and wooly weekend. My sis and her hubby are good as are their pets but there is talk that they buildings they work in had significant water damage we are awaiting that news.
Hugs Madi
Really awful confession: we have been through a few earthquakes and mainly were napping until they woke us up! We are terrible predictors!
We are just fine. Irene didn't come anywhere close to us.
That is interesting about cats and earthquakes. Wonder if they can tell before it actually happens.
Have yourself a super week.
We are too far west for either...we had a small earthquake a few years back and it startled us just as much as the beans; it was a quick "kerflumph" and it was all over with! It did crack the floor tile in the foyer, though.
Max you are wise to think of a business. We live in California but we haven't (knock on wood) gotten any earthquake since Buster and I moved in with the humans.

What a great idea! That's why we has Friday Furcast. Prancer is so good at predicting weather change! Haf a purrfect day.
I was in my backyard and had only come in seconds before the earthquake started (I'm in Virginia, only about 80 miles from the epicenter, so yes, we felt it!), so I'm not sure whether Allegra and Ruby acted strange and sensed something coming. Surprisingly, many of my friends with cats said their cats didn't alert them at all. However, an article in the Washignton Post the day after the quake reported that the animals in the National Zoo definitely sensed the quake before it happened.
We´ve purring our friends stay safe and secure!
It has been a little crazy for this past week. I hope it settles down now.

Us cats are pretty smart, aren't we, Max??

Strange goings on indeed! I think cats should definitely be in charge...they would probably give us more accurate predictions.
Max - We had the earthquake and the hurricane. I took off from work to spend the day with my mom (who came into town to visit - and got to experience both too) and never even felt it... We were shopping. I guess I must have really loved the shoes I bought...
We got very lucky with the earthquake too - especially since we live on the beach. Alex was amazing. We were evacuated and went to my cousins who had two dogs.... he done me proud, again!
We are so glad you are OK.. Pawhugs!
I agree weathermen should have cats to help them predict the earthquakes.
