Bugsy on... turkey and other Thanksgiving traditions

I was having a discussion with Max last night and he agreed to let me blog today.  You see, I don't completely understand this Thanksgiving thing and am looking for a little clarification here. So feel free to explain things to me if you have an answer.

Now, I do understand the thankful part of Thanksgiving, and believe me, I am plenty thankful for HH taking us in and for this wonderful life we now have.

However, I don't so much understand the TURKEY part of  Thanksgiving. As I was cruising through the blogosphere on Thanksgiving, and even yesterday, various kitties mentioned, with great delight, that they were stuffed with turkey or that they were "in a turkey coma" or some such thing to make it sound as if TURKEY was a big part of their Thanksgiving.

Every time I read this, I ran to our oven....nothing in there.  HH opened the refrigerator door... no big bird in there either.  So, do just certain houses get TURKEY or what?  Let me know, okay?

Other than that, we had a wonderful Thanksgiving.  Have a super day!

We did not have turkey at our house, either! (My Mommeh and Dad are vegetablarians). But Harley and I got Marbela Paella instead!

We don't know why you didn't get turkey - purrhaps your Mom and Dad don't like turkey to nom.
Luv Hannah and Lucy xx xx

Isn't Daisy the best. Vegetabliarians. Wow, that is a big word. We did have a tiny little turkey and we all got a very small bit. Turkey isn't all that healthy for a cat or dog. Glad you had a good Thanksgiving. That is the main thing, to be thankful.

Did HH go to somebody else's home for dinner? I bet they had turkey there. That is what my humans did. So only the Friskies variety of turkey over here. There is a rumor that Mom is going to cook a somewhat reduced Thanksgiving meal at our house tonight, though. So I think there will be turkey here just a couple of days delayed.

There be no turkey in this oven either coz vegetullatarians (my mom do be one too like Daisy's pawrents) dussn't nom on turkey. She adopts a turkey from the Farm Sanctuary efurry Thanksgibbing so that turkey can gib thanks he not be in the oven.

Our selves prefer goose for Thanksgiving, but since no one in this part of the US of A, it seems, have EVER HEARD of such a thing (not even for Christmas do they have goose) It's like goose is not a bird, and very tasty and edible and all ....

Anyway, I'm off the path here. Happens all the time.

We went for a small bird, it being just the two of us and the 6 Mouskateers. Mouskateers do NOT get Bean food. They had chicken, but the packaged kitty goodie stuff. We had dressing with chicken breasts chopped in. It's the side dishes that count with us.

Thanksgiving is something, I think, for the individual. This mass herding 'do as the Jones' do' just is NOT right. We're thankful, every day, in every way, for our friends on the blogs and forums, and, for the kitties that are the main reason for most of the blogs and forums. Oh, yeah, the family is in that list too. They always are.

Sorry for the long blather. Just had to say my piece. Hope you don't mind.

Y'all come see us at Buddy Bear's Cats' World, and too, MikiCato at House Panthers.

We'll be back .....

We have hot had turkey here either. Mom said she was cooking one, but we have not seen a big bird in the fridge, just a small rolled thing (tenderloin).

Well as we don't do Thanksgiving, we didn't have Turkey! Do non veggie Americans have turkey at Christmas too? Sometimes we have beans on toast just for a change :)))

My human brought us back turkey from where ever they went, but we did not get it until the day after Thanksgiving.

Well. That is just SO WRONG! HH should be roasting a turkey for you once a week, and giving you HAM inbetween times to fill in the empty bits. Not that it's like that at our house, oh no, we only got canned fudz.

We had turkey too, maybe she forget to go to the turkey store this year!

My peeps are always invited to another house for Thanksgiving, where they do have a turkey in the oven. M says it's been tradition to have Turkey for Thanksgiving ever since she was a little girl, they whoever has Christmas cooks both a Turkey and a ham. You know what tho - I never get any kitty bag brought home to me. Not fair.

Well, we always thought it was a tradition to have turkey on Thanksgiving. Something to do with the pilgrims and indians a long time ago. Our mom made a small turkey breast...just enough for her and dad-guy and for us to get a little taste. We don't know why you didn't have turkey, Bugsy. Maybe HH doesn't like it? Some humans don't, we hear.

Maybe the only birds in Florida right now are snowbirds and not turkeys. You'd think they'd at least have ham!
