Monday Man (boy) Cats... Two Bundles of Energy

"Okay, so how do you work this thing?!"

Good morning pals.... Here's Bugsy at his best. He loves the tape measure, but he doesn't always know how to work it. The other day, he did get a bit tangled up, but he soon learned that if he held it by one end and dragged it around the condo, Knuckles would hang onto the other end and follow him.

Needless to say, HH is having a time keeping up with the boys. They do love their toys and love to run around. Yep... they run and run ... then they flop.

And they run to the door to greet people who come to the condo... Yep. They are settling right in.

Hope your week gets off to a great start. Have a good one, pals.

This and That Thursday...

Bugsy was HH's helper while she wrote her post for Writer's Creative Studio this morning. Now, he's off sleeping while I write my morning post. Go figure. The boy needs lots of rest between gigs I guess.

Anyway, it's This and That Thursday...., so here goes:

On the home front... the boys continue to get into everything... They've been here a week and are really making the place their own. They continue to crack me up, but HH was not amused when Bugsy was on top of one of the louvred doors to the pass through, taking a look at jumping to either the chandelier (one of my unaccomplished goals) or the china cabinet (a goal that never made it to my list). What a cute and inventive boy. Needless to say, the pass through to the kitchen is closed indefinitely.

Knuckles has been remarkably good for the last two days. I told HH not to let her guard down though. That boy is planning something...

In the blogosphere... I'm participating in the Anipal Classic Book Club organized by Oz_theTerrier. We had two great on-line discussions on Twitter yesterday. Feel free to join us at any time. Visit his website to read about it.

If you haven't heard, the Wordy Wednesday Challenge 2011 is on... You'll find details about it at Zoolatry or at Sammy and Andy's Place. Check it out. It is really cool.

That's it for today. Here's hoping you have a great Thursday.

Max loves ya!

Tuna Tuesday is a wonderful thing!!!

My training of Bugsy and Knuckles continues...

First, somehow the toy mouse ended up in the hallway chandelier... I didn't see it happen, so am not sure which of the boys has such a good pitching arm to accomplish that, but BRAVO, pals... that shows potential.

Second... oh oh... someone needs a talking to about chewing on HH's things in the kitchen. There was the famous pumpernickel bread incident of last week. Now this...

If you can't tell what it is, its a bag of flour. Wisely, HH had put it inside a ziplock bag... I mean after the bread thing, it was a wise move on her part. Well that didn't deter a certain someone who shall remain nameless. Rest assured, I'm on the case and will teach these boys well... HEE HEE. They are cracking me up.

And the caption on the next picture says it all...

Tuna what???

Bugsy was pleased to hear about Tuna Tuesday. Yep, he thinks it's a great idea to have a whole day of every week devoted to the TOOOONA. That's my boy!

Anyway... today is Tuna Tuesday. Have a great one.

New Header -- It's a Beauty

Thanks to Ann at Zoolatry for the wonderful new header. What a beauty that is... and it features the boys... I love it and was so surprised to receive it. Spruces things up around here, doncha think?

Well, yesterday was quieter than we thought it would be. Uncle Jim couldn't come. He wasn't feeling well.. you know that ol' scratchy throat and general ick when you're catching something. So our visit has been postponed. But it'll be soon, so I'll bring you full details when it happens. And, I'll pass along the many requests yesterday to have him visit you. I may look into having him do the circuit... HEE HEE...

Anyway, just wanted to tell Ann and her sidekicks Maggy and Zoey... Thanks for the wonderful header.

Have a great Saturday everybody!!

TGIF... Happy Weekend Everybody

HH snapped this picture with her phone last night. It seems like the perfect beginning for the weekend. The boys are resting up because Uncle Jim is coming today to meet them. You may remember him from the book that HH wrote about me.

Anyway, he hasn't met Bugsy and Knuckles yet, and boy do they have a treat coming. Uncle Jim is a cat's dream. He's one of those down-on-the-floor types. He enjoys the cat toys as much as we do... So when I told Bugsy and Knuckles that he's coming, they settled right down to get a little extra shut eye, so they'll be equal to the play time that is about to come.

This has been quite a week here. Memorable gotcha week of all time. Here's wishing all of you a wonderful weekend... Enjoy it whatever you decide to do...

Thankful Thursday... Thankful for my New Nephews

Yep... I'm thankful for my new nephews. Here they are checking out their new cat carrier. They both fit in it now and they like to be together, but Uncle Max will have to buy them another soon. HH took them for a little ride in the car yesterday (she's hoping if she takes them out in the car frequently, they won't develop that annoying howling behavior I was prone to). They did great... just a couple of peeps... no howls.

So they are doing great, but I must tell you that I've been very busy watching over them and trying to guide them in the right direction. They gave HH quite the startle the other morning. She got up when it was still dark and walked into the living room without turning on the light. The light from the bedroom told her that there were brown piles all over the living room and hall.

Oh ..oh, she thought. She was afraid it was "poo"... So she turned on all the lights so she could investigate without taking another step... Needless to say, she was thrilled to discover that it was pumpernickel bread. Bugsy and Knuckles had had a party with a loaf of pumpernickel bread. Don't think they ate much, but Bread Everywhere... HEE HEE... Boys will be boys.

Have a great day. And say some purrs for Annie from Fuzzy Tales

Anipal Classic Book Club - Pride and Prejudice (post 1)

For post #1, I'm wondering if this is a guy's book or a chic's book... I mean, it's all about the girls and which men they fancy. As a guy's guy, I'm finding some of that a bit sissy for me, but I am finding some guidance from good ol' Mr. Bennet.

At first look, Mr. Bennet seems to be totally under the thumb of Mrs. Bennet. Oh...oh..., I thought. But on closer look, he's having his own good time in his quiet way. Yep, he happily survives the onslaught of all the "shoulds" of the women, who do their best to push him into doing what they want at any given moment.

Mr. Bennet has it all figured out. He knows that to survive in his world, he needs to do what Mrs. Bennet wants. But, he does so on his own terms and with a bit of puckish willfulness. I like that!.

I loved it when early on Mrs. Bennet was stewing over wanting him to pay a visit to Mr. Bingley... when, in reality, Mr. Bennet had (Hee Hee) already done so.

Good ol' Mr. Bennet seems to take silent delight in leading Mrs. Bennet to believe he just wasn't interested in making the visit. What a tease he is. But more than a tease, I think he delights in doing things his way. As a guy... I say, "More power to ya, Mr. Bennet."

Now I must address a shortcoming of this book... Where are the animals? Did these people have no pets? Okay, Ms. Jane Austen, just answer me that... don't you like the occasional handsome feline or canine for your book? We're watching you... hopefully you'll come through later in the book. That's it for now....

Bugsy and Knuckles update... The boys are settling in nicely... Thanks to all of you for your wonderful comments of welcome to them... As their uncle, I'm doing my best to guide them in the right direction... More on that in subsequent posts.

Tuna Tuesday...

With all the excitement with the new boys, I almost forgot about Tuna Tuesday. I wish you a happy day filled with the tuna of your dreams.

Today, I want to highlight the SPCA of North Brevard. They have a wonderful facility that kept Bugsy and Knuckles in such good condition while they waited for me to come bring them to their forever home. I can't say enough about their high standards and how they treat the animals. It's a beautiful place.... Go visit there if you can. It's SPCA of North Brevard... And if you want a place to donate your greenies.... this would be a good one.

Yesterday I promised you a video (if HH could figure out how to sign onto YouTube...) Well, she did figure it out. First, my new nephew, Bugsy, is quite fond of toy mice. Here he is in a still shot ... I think he's quite proud of himself.

not a real mouse

And here he is in the video... with his sidekick, Knuckles, of course.

No mice were injured in the making of this movie...

Have a great Tuesday, pals...

Earning their keep....

Knuckles sleeping it off...

Well pals... I'm happy to report that the boys (Bugsy and Knuckles) are earning their keep already. They played all day on Sunday and here they are... resting up for round 2.

Bugsy sleeping it off...

Have a great day everybody. Remember, Max loves ya!!!

(Oh, and HH made a video too... She just has to figure out how to load it up. HEE HEE... This should be good... =^..^=)

BIG NEWS...It's Gotcha Day at the Condo

OMC... OMC... the news is BIGGER than I could have imagined.

First ... the facts for those who might be sketchy on them...

1. You all know how I've been over the bridge for over 2 years now... (I don't make a big deal of it. That's just the way it is.)

2. You all know how I've been blogging about the pets who need forever homes... specifically the pets at the SPCA of North Brevard...

3. You know how HH has been cleaning like crazy...

Well... she wasn't so much cleaning as she was getting the condo ready for ... I'M PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE...

BUGSY AND KNUCKLES...

OMC I'm so thrilled that HH has finally taken the leap back into catdom...

Here's how yesterday went...

Food human to The Great Noodles and HH drove to Titusville. They wandered through the cat adoption center. HH told me about the nice rooms they have with furniture and 4 or 5 cats per room..

Well, it didn't take them long... They spied these two kitties (5 months old) and HH just had to go in and see how they reacted to her. Well, she sat down on the couch and they were all over her...BLAMO.... Here's a picture of them at the very beginning of the visit... (Knuckles is trying to crawl up to HH's face and Bugsy is wanting to be held like a baby... doesn't it just melt your heart?)...

HH didn't want to jump to conclusions, so she and Noodles' food human walked through the entire place again. But, they kept coming back to these two... they were named Donovan and Dallas at that point...

So HH went to the desk and made her intentions known. She had set out to get one kitty, but these two were brothers and she didn't want to separate them. Here they are in the cat carrier on the way home...

They were as good as gold, but HH laughed that they looked like cute little gansters staring out from the cat carrier, so Noodles' food human started researching cute gangster names on her iPAD. And they came up with Bugsy and Knuckles... very fitting... and they moved the Donovan and Dallas names to be their middle names...

Here's a single shot of Bugsy on the way home...

And here's a single shot of Knuckles on the way home...

Here's a picture of Bugsy after they got to the condo...

And, here's one more of Knuckles after they got to the condo...

Well... I'm doing the happy dance for HH, cuz she has needed to do this for a long time... and she did it when the time was just right for her...

More pictures to come in the next few days... For now... that's the big news here. YAY and Welcome to Bugsy and Knuckles!!

And thanks to Noodles' food human for the great pictures.

I'm scratching my head...

The craziness continues. HH was up at 4:30 today. She's scurrying around the condo like she's expecting dignitaries for dinner, but I know that's not true.

There's big doings goin' on over here today, but I don't know what it's all about. She said she'll tell me later in the day and I'll be free to blog about it tomorrow. I'm confused... but hopefully, I'll fill you in tomorrow... You're welcome to speculate on what's going on....

Curiosity.... what ya think?

Oh... and don't forget to blog the change for animals... It's important.

It's not Spring yet!

It's Friday.... Lots to do... Lots to do...?

For some reason (maybe it'll become apparent to me later, or maybe HH will decide to tell me her reasons later), HH is intent on doing the Spring cleaning in the dead of winter. I guess that's an admirable trait, but they call it Spring cleaning for a reason... that being, to let all you human beans off the hook so you don't have to do it more than once a year.

So, we're in the midst of boxes and stuff lined up for the donation people, etc.... once again.

I'm gonna read my book today... meaning take a snooze with my head on it... and leave HH to her craziness.

Hope you have a warm and happy weekend, pals.

Thankful Thursday... Thankful for Books

Today... I'm thankful for books. I'm thankful the book HH wrote about me of course and for other books for and about animals, but today I'm talking about the Classics...

When HH posed the option to me to participate in a book club about the classics, I had to think about it. HH loves that type of book, but I wasn't sure I would. Well, we started our first book yesterday and I must admit, I'm into it... even without the promised tuna juice... just saying, a promise is a promise and I read 30 pages without a hint of tuna...

Anyway, @OztheTerrier at the blog A Canine Opines started the Anipal Book Club. Check it out. We're having fun so far... Thanks Oz for all the work you put into getting this thing going...

Wordless Wednesday - Mousey

Oh... oh... who is that talking to Mousey and why is he so sad?

Ice and Snow Everywheres

First of all... I'm concerned about my pals in the ice and snow. On the news this morning, cars are skidding and people are sliding. I hope you are doing okay in all that slush and icy.... Take good cares of yourselves and tell me how you like the snow. Me... I don't think I would like it so much.

Today of course is Tuna Tuesday... so I encourage all the human beans to remember the day with a little spoonful to the dish... Just thinking it would be a good idea is all I'm saying.

Did you see the mommy bus over at ModernCat.com. Wow... they're having a drawing today for it and they had a whopping 917 comments when I dropped by. I don't know what time they are drawing the winner, but if you hurry, you might make it. Go here to see about it... click here. Here's what it looks like. Cool huh?

Have a great day and stay warm pals.

Osprey story is delayed...

Happy easy Sunday to all of you. I have a couple of things to report, then I'll let you go take your Easy Sunday naps...

First, HH went by and staked out the osprey nest for a while yesterday... No osprey. I think maybe she jumped the gun. The other day when she saw them, maybe they were just doing an off-season check of their nest to make sure all was well. Unfortunately... they are definitely not in residence now... So the osprey story and pictures will be delayed. But, as your roving reporter, I will bring it to you as soon as they re-appear.

Secondly, the book launch was a huge success... Yay!!! HH donated $150 of the proceeds to the SPCA of North Brevard. Hopefully they will be able to put that to good use. Thanks to all who bought books for helping out this great organization. She will continue to make periodic donations to local rescue groups from the proceed of the book sales.

Third.... nap time. On your mark, get set, nap.... Have a great Sunday.

Pawsome News: The Osprey are Back

Calm down pals... These birds are not for eating. They are for observation only.

Yesterday, HH noticed that the osprey are back in their nest at the end of the street. I wish I had a picture to show you, but she can't find the pictures on the computer... can you imagine having so many pictures that you can't find the one you want.. that's the way it is, and HH has made a resolution to organize her pictures... Anyway, HH is gonna take some new pictures so you can see the huge nest on top of the Palm Bay brick sign thingy. You'll have to see it to get what I mean...

Anyhoo, years ago, osprey built this gigantic nest down at the end of the street by the Indian River. I guess they chose that place cause it's high up and safe from other animals and people, and it's close to the river, so they can fish anytime they want.

The neat part is that twice a year they return to their nest to have babies. Once the mama lays the eggs, one of them stays in the nest at all times until the babies learn to fly. It's wonderful to watch this little family. HH is gonna keep a log this time to see how long this process takes.

I'll get back to you on all this excitement. In the meantime, Have a great Saturday.

This and That Thursday...

Meals on Wheels

This is a photo HH took of me when she was in photography class in college. It's one of my favorites, because I do love the mice in the picture. Unfortunately, they weren't real, but they looked it. Anyway, the assignment was humor... HEE HEE. Tuna juice helped me pose so nicely for it.

Just a little news today. HH is guest blogging at Thoughts in Progress today, so I'm working on my blog on my own. No problem, with that, just takes me a little longer to paw it by hand when my typist is occupied elsewhere. Anyway.... this time she's talking about pet blogging. I want to thank Mason Canyon for giving her the opportunity to do that.

I wanted to show you another picture that HH took a while back. This is a manatee. We have lots of them in the Turkey Creek near us. The news I have to share is that there are a lot of them up near Satellite Beach too... I mean a lot!! You see, it's been unusually cold here and they huddle together when it's cold. A friend of HH's said she saw about 150 of them in one spot. Talk about your wonderful photo op. Whew. Anyway, I like this guy because he looks like he's smiling.

I mean... if you love fish... and I do... what's better than a huddle of about 150 giant fish. Whew... I need a nap just thinking about that.

On Thankful Thursday... I'm thankful for you. Have a great day.

A Tribute to Tuna

It's Tuna Tuesday everybody.

I didn't know that Tuna is a universal food, but I do think it is. I know that HH likes it, so that takes in the hooomans... Last night, I was chatting on Twitter with my pal Oz the Terrier, and he's nuts for tuna as well... He's a doggie. I didn't realize that dogs love tuna too. So I decided to compose this little tribute to the tuna from all of us ...

I fancy the tuna to be
the greatest fish in the sea.

Don't doubt my devotion

or I'll jump in the ocean

If you keep my tuna from me.

Happy Tuna Tuesday.

Kennedy...

It's the first Monday of the New Year... and what better way to get started than to highlight one of the great kitties at the SPCA of North Brevard. That's here in Florida.

Today, I'm putting the spotlight on Kennedy... she needs a forever home. So, if you know people or pets in Florida, please tell them about Kennedy... or just send the word out by Twitter or Facebook. You never know who might see it. Thanks...

This is Kennedy. Isn't she cute?

Here's Kennedy's story in her own words...

Hi! My name is Kennedy. I am a female domestic short hair calico. I was born in January 2008. A nice man found me and brought me to the SPCA so I can have a chance at a forever home. I am really sweet and love to be held. I am not sure about other cats, but we can work on that together. I would really love to get out of here, so I can find my PURRfect family. Please stop by and see about giving me a forever home.
Love, Kennedy
For more about Kennedy, go to SPCA of North Brevard, Inc.

A bit of news...

I'm sending you sunshine -- ahhhhhh sun puddles!

Good morning all!

I have two pieces of news to share today. It's starting off to be a very good year...

First, the wonderful blog, Thoughts in Progress posted a review of The Zen of Max today. I want to express my appreciation for the beautiful review and for all she does to support writers throughout the year. Stop by and visit her blog.--you'll enjoy it.

Next, Rumtruffle of A Crafty Kind of Truffle awarded me "The Stylish Blog" award. What a nice thing. I am very honored to have the word stylish used in the same sentence with anything about me. So, I'll need to do some posting to meet the requirements of the award, but I'll do that later in the week after I study up a bit. For now, I just wanted to say thanks...

Hope you all have a wonderful Sunday. Enjoy the day... Back to work tomorrow.
