Bugsy's turn on the rug...

Bugsy's Turn on the Rug

You may think this is the same picture as yesterday, but it isn't. Bugsy saw how cute Knuckles looked on the rug and decided he had to get a piece of the action. So, here is Bugsy in his, "Don't I match the rug, too?" pose.

We had a busy weekend. HH was off at the Brevard Watercolor Society event, and she left me in charge of the boys...

I know I need to set an example, but Knuckles was determined to make it to the top of the china cabinet. I'll show pictures tomorrow. He did make it up and down without breaking anything.

I'm looking at it this way: HH should thank me. I helped him accomplish his goal, now he can put that aside and concentrate on something else, right? At least I hope she'll see it that way when I show her the pictures.

Have a great day, pals.

Max loves ya'!!!

Good Sunday Morning to all!

Knuckles posed for HH on this rug
because he thought it was a pretty good match for his coat
.

What do you have planned today? The boys are taking the day to sort through their toys to be sure they haven't lost any. Just want to start the week fresh with a full arsenal.

And HH is searching the house for her pens. It seems that Bugsy takes after me with an affinity for pens. He has emptied the cup she keeps them in. Oh...oh... I feel another lock down coming on.

Just dropping by to wish you a happy Sunday. We're getting ready to enjoy our naps to recharge our batteries for next week. Hope you have something fun planned

Happy Sunday, pals.

Space Shuttle Report

The next shuttle report will be on March 7th when they return... Here's what happened yesterday...

We monitored the status of take off from the condo. Despite the clouds here, they had clear skies at the launch pad for the launch. All the astronauts were in good shape to go, so I didn't get called as a back-up astronaut....

And.... we didn't see but a nano-second of the launch. The shuttle just made it over the trees in our line of vision and it went right into a cloud -- no visual at all.

I was disappointed but glad that they took off safely. So, no pictures, pals, except this picture of Bugsy and Knuckles watching for the launch. It's just as well that we couldn't see it. They were looking out the wrong door and would have missed it anyway... hee hee.

Yay.... the space shuttle took off without a hitch.

Hope you all have super plans for the weekend and have a great time.

Space Shuttle Launch today!!

I'm ready, pals. Yep, I'm suited up and ready to go just in case the astronauts need a spare astronaut today. It's all exciting here in Florida. The space shuttle is scheduled to launch at 4:50 PM.

The weathermen are predicting that conditions will be right, so all that's left is for the millions of people to navigate the traffic jams to get a good view.

HH, the boys and I are very lucky... we can see it from here. HH always steps out on the walkway on the third floor, but the boys will watch it from the glassed-in porch. In any case, we will be there to cheer the astronauts on.

So, if you're in Florida, don't forget to look to the sky at 4:50 PM and lets all wish our astronauts well. I'll try to have HH post some pictures of it tomorrow.

Have a great day. Zoooooooooooom!!!

Almost Wordless Wednesday

Bugsy... the start...

...and the finish...

PeeS: Yes, HH knows that the boys do exactly what they want because she keeps taking pictures of them doing exactly what they want... rather than stopping them. It's okay... she can't help herself.

Have a great day!!

Bugsy Continues to Crack Me Up!

So, Bugsy has chosen one of the chairs in the living room as his. He loves to sit in it when he takes a nap. That is a good thing, but HH wanted a way to be sure her friends could sit in it without getting a furry bottom...

So, HH bought a "cat bed" for it. It's a round velvet bed liner with a doughnut around it. She thought she'd set it in the chair for Bugsy; then when company came, she only needed to pick it up and all the fur would go with it. In theory, a great idea!

Yep, that's sound, logical thinking on her part. The part she forgot is that Bugsy is not a sound, logical cat. Here's what he did when she put it in his chair...

HEE HEE.... "Not in my chair...!!" That boy cracks me up...

So, HH put it back in the chair, thinking that the boy just didn't realize it was special for the chair and for him... She went to do the wash... When she returned... the bed was by the front door... Later in the day, it was in the middle of the living room on the floor.

Here's Bugsy sitting in it, so clearly he knows the purpose of his new "portable" bed.

And, this morning the portable bed was on the bedroom floor right by HH's bed... I guess Bugsy has decided he likes his gift -- he just doesn't want to use it in HIS chair... HEE HEE...

Have a great day, pals!

Easy Like Sunday

Bugsy wants to play, but his eyes are slowly closing in the true "Easy Like Sunday" tradition. We plan to take it easy today. Just stopping by to wish you a great Sunday no matter what you plan to do.

And... as you can see, Knuckles is already on his way to a nice long nap... !

2010 Annual Purr-Fur-Mance Review -- HH (the good, the bad and the ugly)

Okay pals... here it is: the honest truth on HH's purr-fur-mance in 2010. You know that I love her deeply, but there are some areas for improvement and she won't improve unless I am cat-egorically honest in this reveiw of her purr-fur-mance...

Now, I must qualify the basis for this review. We got off to a rocky start this morning. I was all set to do the purr-fur-mance review, and HH was so excited about the fact that the files for The Zen of Max for Kindle came in that she hogged the computer uploading the files.

Now, I would forgive her that, but this next item is a little too convenient. I think she was a little nervous about what I might say in this review because I can't find the Purr-Fur-Mance Review form on the hard drive. Did somebody delete it? Not accusing.... just saying, it's missing.

Not to be deterred... Here's the review in long-paw...

Quantity of Output... I give HH three paws for quantity of output. She receives that high a score because I do understand that she has four active blogs. But as mine is the most important, I do expect a daily, quality post. In 2010, she probably averaged 2 to 3 posts per week. Lately, however, she has been posting almost daily. So, I hold out hope we'll be able to up that rating next year.

Quality of Output... I give HH four paws for quality of output. She does aim for variety and quality in her posts... Of course, I am the Quality Control Division Head at this blog, so I have been working with her to ensure your have quality material to read. For example... Max's Mystery Novel - my idea; featuring shelter animals - my idea, putting up Mousey pictures - my idea... Are you catching a trend here? So, four paws it is...!

Client Pawticipation... HH does a great job in this area. In fact, I pretty much have lots of input. So I thank her for that confidence in me and give her four paws in this area as well.

Client Satisfaction... I'm just happy to be connected to her and to all of you through the Internet, so my satisfaction if pretty high.... three and a half paws. I rate her that low in this because I think we all need room to grow. Now with the boys, I'm sure we'll be growing this year...

Have a great day... Overall rating is...... 3.625 paws... Congrats, HH!

Thankful Thursday... Thankful for the Boys

Howdy everybody... Just wanted to tell you hi on Thankful Thursday. I am thankful for all of you, of course. And the boys have opened up a whole new chapter of my life and HH's too. We are very thankful for them.

Both boys are showing their share of interest in HH's desk and in the computer. Here, Bugsy is studying the computer and practicing his paper-weight skills, too. ( I guess that's what you call multi-tasking)

Knuckles shows more interest in the cursor. I'll show a video later on of him starting on some simple word processing tasks.

Just wanted to bring you up to date on the home front.

Have a great day, pals.

Combo Wednesday : Wordless and Not-So-Wordless

Woooooohooooo... up, up and away with Mousey...

The Not-So-Wordless part... Anipal Classic Book Club Post: The Irony of Pride and Prejudice...

I love that Ms. Jane Austen was ahead of her time. And I love that she made fun of the rules of that age. After all, isn't it ironic that the women of this story are so concerned that their daughters follow all the social rules in order to be considered proper young ladies, and yet the mothers, and especially Mrs. Bennet, are all but throwing one daughter after another at every man who comes along with the least prospect of supporting them financially.

So, what do you make of this? I, for one, applaud Jane Austen for having the guts to point this out. I wonder if the readers of that time got the subtle and not-so-subtle message.

Sleepin'-in Saturday

Shhhhhhhhhhhh.... It's Sleepin'-in Saturday over here. HH and the boys are having a lazy day of it. That's what Saturdays are for.

Play/work hard all week and sleep in on the weekends. Pretty good system.

HH has decided to make the boys quilts. Whoooeeeee... she better make them outa steel cuz these boys gots lots of tussle in them. She wants them each to have their own blanket/quilt, so they have a comfort zone to run to when they feel like it.

I was going to show you the sketches of the quilts, but she didn't have time to sketch them yet.... More on that later.

For now... happy Sleepin'-in Saturday!!

Bugsy and Knuckles visit the Vet

Yep... like any good parent, HH took Bugsy and Knuckles to the VET to get acquainted. I'm proud to say, they were fearless. I mean not only were they fearless, they owned that examination room. Yep... they jumped right out of the carrier and started exploring.

Here's Knuckles trying to break into the dog bone cookie jar...

And here he is after he settled down on the scale for a little rest...

And here's Bugsy just scanning the room for something to get into.

Well... I'm happy to report... A good time was had by all and the kids are in great shape.

I'm just hoping all their visits to the VET will be as pleasant as this one. Me, I didn't like the VET so much... but that's a story for another day.

Have a great weekend, pals.

Forever Home Needed for Surge

I think I told you that Bugsy and Knuckles (They were called Dallas and Donovan back then) came from the SPCA of North Brevard... Well, I've been so busy getting them started here, that I haven't posted any of the other animals from there lately. So, today, I'm here to introduce you to Surge... What a wonderful kitty he is.

Here's a little about him in his own words...
Hi there, my name is Surge. I was born in early 2006, and someone left me at the door here at the SPCA so I could have a chance at a real FURRever home. I have been neutered, I am up to date on vaccinations, and I'm micro-chipped. I really like the girls here, but I don't really like this cage,so won't you come break me outta here ??!!! I will be the PURRfect kitty, I promise !! Love, Surge
Let's give Surge a chance... Please spread the word that he's in Florida and needs a home. You never know who might see your post and be ready to take Surge to his forever home. Thanks!

To see more pictures, go to the SPCA of North Brevard.

Bugsy, Knuckles and The Dot

Good Morning.... if you are feeling a little tired today, Bugsy and Knuckles are demonstrating how to play without actually moving. This is rare for them -- they are moving every waking minute... Anyway, this is my first movie as the creator/producer. Pretty cool, huh? We will move on to more complicated pieces, using dialogue and staging in the near future. HEE HEE.

Hope you all were thrilled with the Super Bowl... and that's all I'll say about that. This year, I didn't have a favorite team, so I just watched for the entertainment value.

Have a great week everybody. Enjoy everything you do!

Easy on Sunday

Bugsy has decided to take it Easy On Sunday in the sink. I prefer a sun puddle. In any case, napping is the order of the day for Sunday.

HH had a great book signing on Friday night and talked to lots of people who told here all their greatest cat stories. That's the way our human beans are when they get together. They all tell stories about us.

HH saw Uncle Jim yesterday, but he didn't come here. He had a meeting so they met halfway for lunch.

Anyway, just popping in to tell you to have a great Sunday and get your rest 'cuz the beans will be yelling and screaming long about SuperBowl time.

Have a great day!!

Book Signing Tonight... Wooo Hoooo!!

I've been so busy with the boys and all their antics, I almost forgot to tell you about my own news...

HH has another book signing tonight. It's First Friday in the Eau Gallie Arts District... and it's February (the month of Valentine's Day). So, that wonderful Jody (the owner of Art Expressions Art and Fin Custom Framing) thought that it'd be great to have HH come back for a book singing. After all The Zen of Max (a memoir of great wisdom and many naps) is the perfect book to give a friend on Valentine's Day.

So the signing is tonight from 5:30 to 8:30 at Art Expressions 1402 Highland Avenue; Melbourne Florida. If you're in the area, stop by to see HH and say hi... And say hi to Flat Max, too. He'll be there as my stunt double. HEE HEE...

That's it for today. Have a great weekend.

Knuckles runs amuck...

Oh-oh... BUSTED!

Good morning pals. Yes, I am so thankful for my new nephews, Bugsy and Knuckles, and I must say that they are making progress when HH and I are not looking.

HOWEVER, guess who greeted HH when she opened the door to the cupboard where she keeps the dishes?

You got it.. Kunckles, running amuck...

I must say, I was very proud of how HH handled it. She merely closed the door in his little face and went to get the camera. Oh, I think I heard her muttering (or chanting... there's a fine distinction) something about, "Boys will be boys... boys will be boys..." but she didn't hop around like a crazy woman. Nope, she was very cool, calm and collected.

Today, she's off to get some of that hardware to secure the cupboards. Yep, we're going into lock-down mode here. I must repeat, "These boys crack me up."

Have a great day.

Anipal Classic Book Club - Pride and Prejudice (post 2)

Well, time for another Pride and Prejudice post. This one is about a couple of things that occurred to me as I read chapters 15 through 30...

It occurred to me that the world was a much different place in the days of Jane Austen. For example:

1. Mr. Collins can't imagine that Elizabeth would turn down his proposal... what an ego!. I'd just like to tell him, "She's just not into you, pal... Don't embarrass yourself." Now, HH says that there are men with crazy big egos today too, but really... get over yourself, Mr. Collins.

2. Another example is that Mrs. Bennet has to become desperate to marry off her girls. I think that has become a way of life for her because the family is not all that rich, and that's her way of providing for them. At first, I thought she was just a mean Mom, but the more I read, the more I realized that the society of that day has shaped her behavior.

That's this cat's take on a couple of things for this week's post. Can't wait to make the rounds and see what you all are finding, too.

Have a great day...

Oh... and happy GroundHog Day. Last year I wanted the job of the groundhog. Not so anymore. After hearing about the weather up there. I'll stay here in Florida where I belong. ...

Happy Trails, Phil!!!
