| Max: thoughts on portion control. |
...
Hungry.... Knuckles has been acting particularly hungry lately. You know that HH had experimented with self-monitored feedings... meaning the boys ate when they wanted and how much they wanted. She had hoped common sense would prevail. Alas! It did not.
Oh, Knuckles did well at the common sense of eating when hungry and finding something else to do when not hungry. Bugsy, however, made the most of the freedom at the food dish and just couldn't self-regulate.
So, to keep Bugsy from gaining too much, HH switched to feeding them according to portion sizes a coupla times a day.
Weight-wise, Knuckles is doing well.... and Bugsy is slowly losing the little that he gained.
The PROBLEM... Knuckles, as I said earlier, has been acting as if he's starving. It was confusing HH until day before yesterday. She walked back into where the boys eat and found Bugsy eating Knuckles' food.
BUSTED!!!
| Yes, I am truly sorry I at Knuckles food.... "Sorry Knuckles!" |
HH can only guess that Bugsy has been quickly shoveling his own food into his cute little mouth and then moving on to Knuckles' dish. And, Knuckles, the accommodating brother, just politely moved aside and watched Bugsy chow down... No wonder Bugsy isn't losing as quickly as HH thought he should.
Now that she knows what's going on, HH will monitor their feeding time and make sure Bugsy sticks to his diet. So that's our update on the food situation over here. Problem Solved!
That said, it is indeed Tooona Tuesday. So, enjoy pals... Toona all arouind... in moderation, of course.
And remember.... Max loves ya!!!

BUSTED for SURE! Mom had to smile though. How like a brother to horn in on our chow! Well, Bugsy, the jig is up. Mom saw you.
Food regulation!!! What her tryin to do...starve ya! Nose dat feelin'! Me has been starved over here too. (Butt Dad secretly gives me tweets dat da Momma don't nose about) Shhhhhhhh!
OH MY STARS that is too funny.
Sorry Knuckles but I do believe Bugsy and I are related!! In my opinion a food dish should never be left until it is empty. You were just doing a community service.
Hugs Madi
BOL - too funny! Phantom is a very slow and very picky eater. He gets to eat in a different room from the rest of us since we eat our food very quickly, Mom says we inhale it:) Keep at it, much easier to control the intake this way than free feeding.
Tuna for us too, please.
Woos - Phantom, Thunder, Ciara, and Lightning
Oh my, that would explain it fur sure silly boy!
Poor Knuckles! Sorry I'm chuckling over Bugsy's boldness.
Bugsy!!, You norty boy! You're just like Tigger lol
Hee!Hee! It's always easy to say your sorry after you've already eaten Knuckles food! Smooth move Bugsy! :)
If I didn't monitor mealtimes at our house Kip would eat his own food and EVERYONE ELSE'S too - LOL!!!
Gees, this seems familiar. :-)
Nicki will eat his food (canned), and then, because Derry is slow to eat his canned (prefers dry), Nicki will eat that too, unless the mom takes it up first. So Derry is slimming down a a bit and Nicki's getting fatter. LOL.
Here's hoping your human organizes your meals that you're BOTH satisfied!
That happens at our house, too. Kirby is a pig!
Oh bugsy..I think I have the same issue......
Naughty Bugsy! Poor Knuckles!
Licks,
Ruthie
Binga and Boodie steal each other's food all the time - whoever finishes first starts working on the other's dish, usually with a lot of growling (always on Binga's part). It seems to even out for them, though.
I am a slow and picky eater so I am fed separately. Otherwise I'd never get to eat at all!
Poor Knuckles!!!!! =)
UH-OH!!!! no taking the food of your brother; not nice at all!
Oh dear poor Knuckles... A little problem indeed... Hugs GJ xx
oh dear.... happy Tuesday!
Aahah, so funny!!
Have a nice day.
Woof, woof,
Chicco
Oh, I hate diets. Poor Knuckles.
Poor Knuckles! Bugsy, we play that game over here, too ... Sammy and Moosey are always trying to "help" each other eat. MOL
Poor Knuckles! We're sorry the self-regulating didn't work for you. We do that here and our food is on Mommy's desk to keep it away from our woofie sisfur and we only eat a little bit all day long. We got fat the fun way - TREATS!
Bugsy is certainly a kitty after Cody's heart.
My Angel Bobo was more like Knuckles. I always "free fed" him. He was a large boned cat, he was the perfect weight. I would keep a GIANT bowl of kibble out at all times (and I did) and he would "self-regulate."
Not so with Mr.Cody. The vet had wanted Cody to lose a little bit of weight. At one point, we tried "free feeding" (one meal to be exact) lol...I put the bowl of kibble down. Cody began to eat and NEVER CAME UP FOR AIR. If I had not removed the bowl he would have eaten until he became sick.
So....I do the "recommended portion" thing to (per the vet's instructions) and he is always coming around plaintively wailing and looking pitiful.
What's a mother to do??? lol
GOOD LUCK!
xoxoxo
I have this same problem with Wally and Ernie. Wally will eat all his food really fast and if I don't keep an eye on him, he'll push Ernie away from his dish and eat all his food. Wally has been looking a little "heavy" lately so I really have to keep an eye on him and make sure he doesn't get a double feeding! Good luck with Bugsy and Knuckles!
