| ...on being a pet |
At times, it's good to take stock of why human beans and animals pair up the way they do. I may have some students looking at this post in the near future. I wanted to show them what it means to be a pet and to be a pet's human bean. So today, I'm waxing philosophical about what I see as the benefits derived from such a partnership.
Benefits to the pets:
- we are not homeless because of you
- we have food in our bellies every day
- we don't have to sleep out of doors when the weather is nasty
- we get lots of petting and love because of you
- we provide unlimited head bumps
- we provide unlimited purrs or woofs
- we aim to provide alarm clock services (e.g. waking you up in the morning whether you want it or not)
- we let you play with our toys
- we provide watch-cat or watchdog services
- we give limitless unconditional love.
Have a great day!

In alex's case - makes sure I am never bored by giving me lots to clean up every day, especially in the AM.
Some people claim we cats can lower peeps' blood pressure and even strengthen their bones with our purrs! We're like... magic cats!
Yes, cat and dogs do lower blood pressure, so the ooman saves the expense of blood pressure medicine - unless it's really really high,
Those are all mighty good points on both sides. We don't think you have forgotten anything. We do provide lots and lots of entertainment and keep the beans exercised with all the clean up involved. Great post. Take care.
I'm so glad our furry friends let us play with their toys! They also teach us to have lots and LOTS of patience!:-) Have a great weekend!
They give us a reason to go for nice long walks!
I smiled at Marg's remark. I know I keep MY bean exercised with my bomit traps. But it's worth it because I am precious and dear and loving.
You sum it up very nicely. We also can provide our hoomans with heating pads when they is sick!
Delightfully smelling toots!

Max you are so very wise and such good observations.
I would like to add one...
I am Mom's resident censor...yes...she feels it is her job to sit on a particular section of whatever she is reading because I have decided she doesn't need that information or it is X-rated for her delicate eyes.
Hugs Madi
We did take notice of the fact that there were more benefits for the humans! That's not coincidence! MOL!
PAWsome list Max !
Me neither think you have forgotten anything !
All in all it just works out purrfect!
We make excellent sleeping companions and warm laps on winter evenings. We also give Mum lots of exercise with the vacuum cleaner picking up shedded furs!!
We don't ask for anything in return
- well not more 3007 things anyway!
Luv Hannah and Lucy xx xx
I think you covered it purrfectly!!!
Pets are better than spouses :)
=)
Have a great weekend!
I believe we give out far far more than we take!
Very cool... and oddly ironic that I posted about feral cats today!
Well, in the case of us dogs, we keep mom in shape by wanting out, wanting in, wanting out, wanting in. And not all at the same time, of course, but individually. That way she gets three times the exercise. I don't think it works well fur lowing her blood pressure, tho.
Have a blissful day Max!
Sometimes you are better than family and more lovable!
All of the above plus aromatic mousebreath and the odd projectile hairball :))
We make our humans smile and laugh every day. And we help them relax when they get home from work. :)
Humans that see the world through our kitty eyes, learn that everything they need is right here.

We agree with you list too Max!
That's a great list, Max! We agree about the alarm clock. We are good at that!
I think that it's appropriate that the "Benefits To The Beans" is a longer list. We get so much from our furry kids.
