This is what she wrote on her other blog this morning.....
I have had two cat blogs in my day. One was about Max the Quilt Cat and the other was about HH and The Boys (HH... that's me... is short for Her Highness). The boys are my current cats, Bugsy and Knuckles.
I love telling the stories of the cats; but with blogs on writing and art and the two other blogs (Florida Book News and Brevard Art News) that I write to help Florida artists and writers; I've had to consolidate -- just not enough hours in the day.
I hope all of you, who follow Bugsy and Knuckles, will follow them over here (Note from Knuckles... "Here" means at www.loubelcher.com). I'll be keeping you up to date a couple of times a week on their antics and their opinions of my opinions...
We'll try hard to have articles and postings of interest to all of you..
So go to LouBelcher.com and sign on to receive the posts by email (or though RSS feed or whatever you do) if you want. And you know we love comments.
So, drop on by....
Lou and The Boys
So that's what she wrote... And you know what?. HH has been jumping around trying to do it all for so long.... but we haven't been able to comment much and we haven't been able to read your blogs as much as before, so we have our paws crossed that this will solve the problem.
Bugsy and I will still have our voice and get our pictures took and posted, and HH will have more time to post with everything all on one blog. Hope it works for you, cuz we love you all and of course.... you know that Max loves you too.
You know these kitties for sure. They are the famous Funny Farm Felines. If you don't know them, please go visit their blog
Well, these are the portraits that HH painted of them during the 30 day challenge. And today, since it's Thankful Thursday, we are here to tell you we are thankful for them and thankful for their portraits.
Why, you ask? You know we've been selling some of the paintings on the For Amy site to raise funds for Amy.... (You can read about that over there.) Well, in addition to the on-line fund raiser, this past Friday night there was an in-person fund raiser in New Hampshire too... To participate in that, HH and her friend Sheila decided that the Funny Farm Felines are so cute as a group that they needed to make a personal appearance at the fund raiser. So, Sheila shipped them all up there.
WOW... they were a huge hit and brought in $250 for the cause and they found a wonderful home where they will be able to hang together forever.
So... thank you Funny Farm Felines for posing for the portraits and thank you Jan for sending countless photos to help HH paint them...
At Last..... no painted kitties today. We have our blog back and are happy about that.
Guess what happened to Sheila... HH's pal from the Studio. She has the two labs... Sammy and Ozzie... Well last week... Lola a Newfy came to live with them... We wanted to meet Lola, but when HH said she is a giant of a dog, we decided we should just admire her from afar....
Isn't she cute..... Maybe someday we'll meet her..... First we'll let her settle in a Sheila's house. Bet Sheila will be painting her picture soon.
Have a great day everybuddy.
hugs, Bugsy and Knuckles.
We are so sad that Mr. Pip has run off to the bridge... We send love to him and to his family. You were a giant of a friend, Pip....
HH just finished this painting for her friend. Some of you may know who this is. It's The Great Noodles from the early days of Twitter. What a great cat he is. He doesn't have a blog, so we can't send you to visit him, but just take our word for it... next to us... he's HH's favorite cat.
Here he is on Thanksgiving day. This is him when he first saw the turkey come out of the oven....
It's Tooona Tuesday everybuddy and we are excited... HH was away with some other artists friends for a couple of day trips and then she would come home at 9 or so in the evening... We were worried.... She just hasn't left us much.
The first night .... Knuckles flopped down on top of her and would not let her up.... the seconds night (when it happened again that she didn't come home until 9 or 10 o'clock) Knuckles gave her the stink eye and then the cold shoulder.
Me.... I knew she was coming back. I just acted normal.
Anyway... she is back to normal hours now and we are happy about that. So this morning before she left for the studio, she gave us a bunch of Toooooona to share with you. So, come on over. We made Tuna Pizza for you...
Also.... don't miss the last two kitties that HH painted. They are from Jan's Funny Farm. It's Cameron and Cyndie....
Here are all 30 of you kitties who posed for portraits in September. HH has finished the poster and has made it available to any who want it at Fine Art America. They allow you to pick whether you want a greeting card or some form of a print to hang on the wall.
Anyway, this isn't a sales pitch. HH just wanted you to know that it's there in case you want one of the group shots.
We are looking forward to just lazing around this Monday. How's your week shaping up?
We told you we'd be back with Calista Jo from The Cat On My Head, and here we are... Finally, HH and Calista had a sit down and heart-to-heart talk, and HH begged her to pose and not change her pose, so HH could paint her.
And here we are. She has such pretty fur, she didn't want it to be captured on canvas, but alas.... Here she is in all her beauty. If you haven't stopped over to The Cat On My Head, please do so and tell Calista how beautiful she is in person.
Hope you are all having an Easy Sunday... We are... Now all HH needs to do is finish the poster and we'll post that in the next day or two.
Bugsy here... I'm just hanging here on HH's arm.... Since it's Thankful Thursday, she asked me to thank all of you who participated in the 30 in 30 Challenge for sending in the photos, etc. You are all wonderful for participating.
And.... guess what.... Here's another cat. HH had a couple who came in late, so she has three more to show you. Today it's Micah, from Jan's Funny Farm.... Stop by their wonderful blog and tell Micah how handsome he is.
He was fun to paint too. Thanks to Jan for sending him in.
The 30 in 30 Challenge is over and we are back with you full time.
Bugsy and I have been well-rewarded for our good behavior during HH's painting time and we have tons of Tooooooona over here.
So come on over and have some Tooona and have a closer look at the first draft of the poster HH is making of all the kitties* she painted. Betcha can't name them all.
* You'll notice a blank spot in the poster... Not to worry. HH is still battling with Calista Jo's portrait. She painted her from scratch again yesterday and although she made some headway, she didn't master her yet. Score... Calista Jo = 3, HH = 0. We'll show you the poster again once HH is satisfied with Calista's portrait. This is gonna be good folks.
The honor of being the painting of the 30th day of the 30-day challenge goes to Whimsy. He's a watercolor and pen and ink cartoon cat who is a bit shy and only shows half of his face at a time. He is painted on 300 pound watercolor paper and in real life he is 5 " by 7"....
He's here to thank all of you for your support and encouragement throughout the month. I loved reading your comments.
Tomorrow... watch for the poster of all 30 cats. Last time I made one, so decided that whenever I make it through one of these challenges, I'll create a poster as reinforcement.
Again, I appreciate your support.... Have a great day.
For Day 29, HH has painted another Abstract Cat. This one is #6....He can either be combined with the others or he can hang alone. His is 6" by 6" on 140 pound watercolor paper. HH used acrylic glazes to paint his vibrant coat.
Bugsy and I want to be colorful like that for a day or two... not forever mind you... just for a couple of days to try it out.
Wellll, we hope you are having a wonderful Easy Like Sunday. We are in our napping mode for sure.
Percy is also from Jan's Funny Farm.... Isn't he a handsome fellow. Yesterday we had Rusty. Rusty is a beautiful fellow and he was commenting on how beautiful he found himself. So, HH thought she better quick paint one of the other kitties from Jan's Funny Farm, so Rusty's head didn't get too large as Jan said it might.
So... for your viewing pleasure... here's Percy in all his multi-colored wonder. His colors blend so well together... Very beautiful ... Be sure to drop by his blog and see some of the other pictures of him.
Wishing you a wonderful weekend all. Have a great time whatever you decide to do.
Day 27.... can you believe it? Knuckles and I are getting excited. We're gonna have a celebration when HH hits 30 Paintings in 30 Days. That's for sure. It'll be great. She'll be able to pet us without getting paint all stuck in our furs.. And she won't fall asleep in the middle of our conversations either.
Seriously... it's been a wonderful month, cuz we have lots more kitties to look at now.
Today... let me introduce you to Rusty from Jan's Funny Farm... At first HH painted him too light cuz she didn't read Miss Jan's email carefully. In the email she said that there was a second photo attached, cuz the first one was a bit washed out. Well .... Rusty is his name... duh.... should be rust colored, right? So he was blond at first, but HH put some rust in his fur too.
Such beautiful furs on this one. HH had a great time painting him.
Guess who's sister this is.... ? Never guess...? Of course you know that this is Truffle, sister of Brulee from Sweet Purrfections Just like Brulee, she has fur and fluff everywhere... Beautiful to look at and beautiful to paint.
Have you been over to visit their blog? If not get on over there and see all the wonderful photos of the two girls who are pure confection.
It was such a pleasure to paint them and I'm catching onto this long hair cat fur painting. Very fun.
Bugsy and Knuckles said that since it's Thankful Thursday, to thank you all for participating. We are approaching the end of the challenge and wanted to pause a moment to let you know that your comments and your photos have been greatly appreciated.
Have a great day...
hugs, Bugsy, Knuckles and HH
Also... there's a need in Michigan this weekend. Please share this story with others who might help.
The HSHV Animal Cruelty and Rescue Team brought in 88 cats yesterday from horrendous
conditions in a home in Ypsilanti Township. The cats came in sick,
malnourished and flea-infested and are currently under medical
treatment. Everyone is now safe and getting outstanding care, though
not yet ready for adoption. But we desperately need families who want
and have the means to become pet parents to come to HSHV this weekend.
Getting our current feline residents into their forever homes more
quickly will help free up space and time so we can keep extra focus on
giving our cruelty case cats what they need and deserve to thrive.
Friday through Sunday, September 27 – 29, all adult cats over the age of
5-months-old will be eligible for a Free adoption.
those people who aren’t ready to adopt and still want to help, you can
make a donation to help pay for medical treatment or bring us an item
off of our wish list.
Bugsy and Knuckles here: We both wanted to introduce the lovely Miss Zoey today, so we are doing it together. She's from The Island Cats too, you know, over there with Wally and Ernie... If you didn't go over to visit them when their picture were up, stop over today and see what they've got going.
It's Wordless Wednesday, so we're gonna keep the words to a minimum today. HH asked us to tell you that she loved painting little Zoey... Beautiful furs as you can see....
Thanks to the Island Cats for participating.
If you'd like to see other cat portraits for 30 in 30... go here...
Bugsy here: My turn to introduce the character in the painting today.
This is Faraday. He's from A Tonk's Tail err...Tale blog. He is just about the sleekest cat we've ever seen. His fur is beautiful. On his blog it says that he is a purebred Platinum Mink Tonkinese boy who they got from a
breeder who also places Tonks who have been abandoned and need to be
His momma said, "Faraday is a squally attention-grabber, in case you can't tell." He's our kinda guy. We don't squall but we do like to grab attention and are wondering if he might come over and show us some of his tricks.
Anyway, HH said she had a great time painting him today. If you don't know Faraday and his siblings, go on over and introduce yourselves....
Oh... and ... don't forget about Toona Tuesday. HH will be at the studio all day painting the other kitties and Knuckles got his paws on the can opener... so come on over.
Saturday, I drew out three more kitties and because I did all that, I forgot to paint them yesterday. I had the best plans for getting ahead. .. Just remembered doing work and kitties, .. so today we have this little guy. I did paint him yesterday. I love that he's so flexible... Something that I aspire to... Hope you enjoy him.
We're into the home stretch now. I'm really enjoying all the painting and will have someone from the group you sent into me for tomorrow.
Have a great day... The boys are into the countdown with only 7 more cats to go.
A cat and a flower.... what better cat picture for a Sunday. This is Day 22 - The Flower Cat. This one is 6" x 6" on 300-pound watercolor paper. It is painted with acrylic glazes and has a shimmery cast to it. It is framed and ready to hang.
This is a special painting because it is part of the For Amy fundraiser. Please follow this link and read about it and participate. Amy needs all our help. Thanks for considering that. Amy Davis is a dear friend of HH's friend Sheila. Amy was recently diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) and 100% of the purchase price of this painting will go to Amy. Insurance covers some, but not all of her expenses.
To see all the paintings or to follow the progress of Sheila in this fundraising endeavor, please visit, For Amy
The boys have their easy on today and we're hoping that you have a wonderful day too... HH is still painting. One more week to go and she's gonna make it if'n we have to prop her up at the easel to help her along.
Thanks to all of you who have participated and who have commented. It's fun to read the comments here and on Facebook at Lou Belcher Art.
It's Caturday.... And today, I get to announce the cat for Day 21 of the 30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge. It seems like it's been going on for a gazillion days doesn't it? So far, HH is doing well... she's right on track....
So without further ado... whatever ado is... let me introduce Brulee to you. She is a Siver Shaded Persian... and is known for her wild fur horns on the top of her head, especially when she’s in her
full winter coat. Isn't she just the fluffiest cat you've ever seen? Very beautiful!!
Do you already know her? She's from Sweet Purrfections blog. If you don't know her, stop by and say hi to her and her sister, Truffle.
Hope you're having a wonderful weekend. Bugsy says hi too, but he's off getting into trouble no doubt.
It's Day 20 already and this is Darby. I know she looks like a gigantic cat from this portrait but she's just a little thing, weighing in at 5 pounds. It was fun to paint her this close up.
Many of you may know her. She's from Cats at Wildcat Woods. If you didn't drop by and say hi to all the cats over there when I posted Georgie's painting a while back, drop by today and enjoy.
The weekend is almost here and HH will be painting night and day. If 'n she leaves the computer on for us we'll be talking to you. So stop by if you're around, cuz we know she'll be posting pictures everyday.
So, Bugsy got to introduce Fiona the other day. So, it seems only right that I get to introduce Calista Jo. She's from The Cat on my Head blog too. HH told me that they have a lot of pretty cats over there and she's right. Anyway, Calista Jo has furs of many different colors And her furs are giving HH fits. And her eyes too. So Calista Jo is what is known as a work in progress. HH will work on her some more and we'll show her to you again soon. We hope.....
So, here she is in her almost-done state and she is Cat 19... Anyway, if you haven't been over to see them at The Cat on my Head, why not....? You've had two tries at it with Madison and Fiona ... and here's your third. Go over and look around and say hi to them.
Oh.... and we were thinking of participating in Meow Like a Pirate Day... Next year. Time got away from us.
Something a little different today. A couple people have been asking me when I was going to make some more abstract cats. Well, I decided to mix things up a bit and paint one for today. This one is 6" by 6" and is on 140-pound watercolor paper. I use acrylic glazes for this. And I frame them with little black frames. I put up two others of this series at the beginning of the month.
Today is Wordless Wednesday, and I've already used up too many words. Have a great day.
Angel Inka is Day 17..... It's Tuesday already... it seems I'm losing track of time. I'm in a whirlwind of paint and having fun with all these cats visiting me. I stare at them to capture their special look. Inka and I had a great time smearing some paint around. She's a beautiful cat. I thoroughly enjoyed painting her.
We hope you have been to Clooney's Num-Num Fund blog before, because that's where Inka was from until she went to the bridge in 2009. It was such a pleasure to paint her, I hope you'll stop by their blog and learn about her.
Hope you have a great day.
OOOOHHHHH.... I almost forgot... it's Toona Tuesday and the boys want me to remind you to stop by... they're ready to share.
HH painted Maxwell on Sunday and guess he was getting his Easy Like Sunday on while she painted. Bugsy and Knuckles slept right through it, too. Maxwell's mom sent a couple of pictures to choose from. One of them was with him leaning over a ledge with his eyes crossed. Someday HH will try that one, but she wasn't sure she could pull it off as well as he did, so she chose this more traditional pose.
If you'd like to see some of the other cats portraits, stop by Lou Belcher Art
The Results: Yesterday there
were six suggestions for the name of Day 15 kitty.... they were:
Panther, Onyx, Velvet, Elvis, Extra, and Midnight. After a random
drawing..... The Name of the Day 15 Kitty is ELVIS. Thanks to those who participated.
Bugsy here..... This is the 15th cat in the 30 in 30 challenge... He's different than the rest. He's from HH's imagination. She knew there would come a day in this month when she didn't have one of your cats to display. She prepared for just such a day by painting an extra cat... Problem is: he has no name. So it's up to you to name him. Please leave whatever name you see fit in the comment section and we'll have a drawing for his name tomorrow.....
It's easy like Sunday. You'll notice that we are getting our easy on while you work away at naming this cat.
Have a great day everyone. And if'n you want to see the other cats in the series, stop by HH's gallery. Or if you want to see what the other artists from the challenge are doing, Stop by Leslie Saeta's blog.
Hi ... Bugsy Here. I told HH that I wanted to give the introduction today, and she said I could when I told her that I think that Fiona is just beautiful. What wonderful fur.... She is every shade of gray there is. Knuckles liked her picture too....
Fiona is from The Cat on My Head blog. I hope you dropped by over there when Madison was featured. If you didn't.... get going and click here to go see them. There are birthdays going on over there on the 17th, so you don't want to miss that.
Anyhooooooooo.... I think that's all for me.... Here's HH.
HH Here... just wanted to say what a delight it was to paint Fiona. As Bugsy said, she has beautiful fur in all those shades of gray and her face is so symmetrical... We had a nice time getting her on canvas.
I've been home from the studio all day today.... brought my paints with me. Having a couple days with the boys while I work on a book I'm writing for November.
Heeeeeeeeeere's Wally..... The boys are big fans of Wally and Ernie, so they were thrilled the other day to see Ernie on their blog and now Wally... They are beside themselves.....
It is always such a pleasure to paint Wally. He just about jumps off the page at me as I feel that humorous side of him wanting to take over. Wally is another of The Island Cats. If you don't know Wally and Ernie and their sister Zoey... you gotta stop by their blog..
Just a little aside. I went to the Verizon store today... my phone finally gave up. As one guy was configuring my new phone, I chatted with the other guy. He saw some paint on my hands and asked me what I was painting. When I said, "Cats." He got a look of horror on his face. I guess he thought I meant literally....
Well... I hope you all have a great day and have wonderful plans for the weekend. Don't forget to stop by. I'll have cats for you on Saturday and Sunday too.
We're adding more glam to the blog today. Today's star is Allie from A Tonk's Tail...err, Tale. What a beauty she is and how fun to paint. In one of the shots her mom sent in, it showed her paw with bright pink polish on her nails and I'm told she has bling on her collar, but I couldn't see it to replicate it here. I was fascinated by this pose and her eyes, however, so I didn't get to show you her nails. But, stop by their blog and you'll get a little look at them.
Anyway, It was great fun painting Allie and I hope you drop by and tell her how pretty she is.
Allie is Day 12 of the 30 Paintings in 30 Days. If you'd like to see the others, drop by my art gallery. They are all there. Just click on any one of them to biggify.
As it's Thankful Thursday, let me say that I'm thankful for all the wonderful reference photos I have for the painting challenge. Thanks everyone.
Today's portrait is Georgie of Cats of Wildcat Woods It was such a pleasure to paint her. That white fur is a challenge and I was especially careful to try to capture her delicate features. If you haven't been over to the Cats of Wildcat Woods blog, be sure to take this opportunity to stop by. There are plenty of cats to meet over there. It's a private feral cat sanctuary and each cat is as beautiful as the next. I thoroughly enjoyed painting Georgie.
If you're interested in seeing the first 10 cats in the 30 Paintings in 30 Days series, you can go to my gallery and see them all.
Wow... it's Day 10 already. We can't believe that a third of the challenge is behind us... well behind HH, that is. She has kept to the task at hand throughout the month, and yesterday she even painted two paintings. This one of our pal Ernie and another of cows and Queen Anne's Lace in a field.
Without further ado, let us present Ernie of The Island Cats. The motto at their blog is, Every cat wants to be an island cat. Ever since we first saw their blog, we have wondered what it would be like to be an island cat and to live with lovely Zoey, and the witty Wally and Ernie. All three sent in their photos, so you're going to meet them all. Today... we have the indomitable Ernie. If you haven't met Ernie, Wally and Zoey before, visit their blog and get to know them.
If you'd like to see the artwork from all ten days, go here... Lou Belcher Art Just click on any one of them for a bigger view.
Today is Toooona Tuesday everybuddy... We're not neglecting that over here just cuz HH is painting. Come on over.
